chapter 5

Carli's pov:
Why? Why today? Why this year?

I look over at him just as he looks at me. Theres a empty seat beside me and I'm praying someone sets there before he does.. just as on que, dani walks in.

"Dani! Set by me" I say to her.

She smiles and nods and rushes to me.

"You ok?" She ask.

"Jesse is here" I say.

"What!? I thought he was in juvie.. for the things he did." She said.

"Me too, guess he got out for his senior year" I say sadly.

"Well, just stay aw-" she for cut off by the teacher.

"Everyone, write down these notes for a test that's firday!" She says.

I finish writing the notes while worrying about what's gonna happen after class. Will he talk to me? Will he try something? Will he want to hang out?

So many questions were running through my head that when the bell rung and I got up to leave I instantly fell, blacking out.

Maverick's pov:
I rush into the hospital and to the front desk.

"What happen!? Wheres carli smith?" I scream at the nurse.

"Sir, calm down! She is in room 345" she says.

I rush to the elevator and press the third floor.

Once the door opens I run down the hallway.

I walk inside the room and see her awake with a ice pack on her head.

"Are you ok!? What happened?" I ask quickly.

"Yes, I'm fine. I was just overthinking and had a panic attack and blacked out. I'm ok maverick, I promise" she says just as cash and dani run in here.

She explains what happens and the sigh relieved that nothing serious happened.

I hold carli's hand and walk to my car. I help her buckle her seat belt and then get in on my side.

"Carli, what were you overthinking about?" I ask her.

"My ex.. he walked into my class this morning and it kinda scared me I guess" she said.

"Who's your ex?" I ask.

"His name is jesse" she says.

"Jesse underhill?" I ask.

She nods.

My bestfriend is her ex. Holy shit.

Carli's pov:
We sat in the car, not moving from the parking lot after I said jesse's name. He was quiet for a long time. Thinking.

"Maverick?" I say.

"Hmm.. yeah" he says.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"Jesse underhill is my bestfriend" he says.

Oh.. I didnt say anything. I set quiet the whole car ride home.

We pull up to the drive way and we walk in. I walk upstairs with maverick close behind.

We walk in my room still silent as we set down on the bed.

The whole room was so quiet you could hear a noise walking around the room, if I had a mouse in my room.

"Maverick.." i whisper.

"Yeah?" He says looking at me.

"Are you ok?" I ask.

"Yeah, just when did you date jesse?" He ask.

"A couple years ago, he did bad things that I dont want to talk about.. he went to juvie for a while and I guess he just got out for his senior year." I tell him.

"Oh" is all he says.

"Do you wanna watch a movie?" I ask him hopefully.

"Yeah sure" he says smiling a bit.

And soon, we were back to normal, us cuddling and laughing about stupid jokes and watched movies till we soon fall asleep.

Maverick's pov:
I wake up and feel someone cuddled up beside me. I look down and see carli beside me. I smile at her in awwh because she looks so dang adorable sleeping. I look out her window from where I am and see that its dark out. I grab my phone that was setting on her bedside table and check the time. Its one in the morning and I dont want her mom to come in her room in the morning and see us together so I easily and softly push her to the other side of the bed and then get up putting my shoes on and grabbing my stuff before heading out the window and getting in my car and heading home.

I get out of the car and walk inside. I walk up the stairs dragging my feet. I open and close my bedroom door, slip my shoes off and flop on the bed and instantly fall asleep as my head hits the pillow.

*beep* *beep* *beep*

I slam my hand on the alarm clock and stand up. Tour is today!

I grab my suitcase and start throwing clothes in. Once I'm done I head to the shower and try opening the door but another hand hits mine.

Cash.

"I'm taking a shower first, I was here first" i tell him sternly.

"Dont you still have to pack?" He says sarcastically

"Already done" I say smirking.

"What about you?" I ask.

"Uhg fine, i still have to pack" he whispers the last part.

I laugh at him and go into the bathroom and close the door.

I strip and get in taking a quick shower.

Once im done I start to put clothes on.. but I forgot my underwear so I reach for the towel but see theres not one. My bedroom is 10 feet away from the bathroom I can just run there.

I open the door and speed over to my room but I bump bodies with someone and fall down them landing on me.

I start to freak out but once I see who was on top of me.. I freak out more.
