Ino:

The rain came in waves. The sky above was the colour of a television turned to a dead channel almost as if reflecting the haziness in my heart. The water steamed through my hair, down my neck––soaking my clothes. The chilly wind cut through me like a knife, but I didn’t care. Sai's words already set a cold fire blazing in my bones.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I nearly tumbled to the floor the the forest cleared before me. Sliding with the streams of mud, I came to an abrupt halt, my eyes gleaming with a futile hope.

To say that the town before me, was a shadow of its former self would be an understatement. Paint flaked off in hideous chucks, appearing as if some beast had repeatedly raked its claws down the crumbling walls. The smell of sweat and festering flesh daubed the area like cheap whine did to alcoholic's breath.

I hadn't given any bit of thought to what I'd do once I got here. I  stumbled through the town, searching for an answer.

Broad arms snaked under my armpits. Their sun-browned fingers lacing under my torso pulling me into the body we belonged to. I struggled.
An unpleasantly guttural voice whispered in my ears, "Well hello there. Haven't see you around before."
"I'm sure I would've remembered you," the soldier said eying my chest. He was one of many who ran this camp. I instantly regretted having ever left Sai's side.
I struggled again as he pinned me against one of the walls.

With my hands bound I couldn’t perform any of my family's signature techniques. Even though I was a capable kunoichi I was helpless…

His cold eyes met mine, and he was instantly affected by my curse. Drool ran down his mouth as his hands up and down my body. His lips pursed, parting slightly as they neared mine. I was dead. In less than 11 seconds I would die.

Memories of that day flashed in a rapid procession.
The last halcyon day of my miserable existence…

Flashback:

The chilly autumn breeze sent tingles down my spine the way his fingers had, no more than two days ago. Here I was reimagining the ecstasy of it despite the horror that awaited me when I had returned. Rumours about exactly what I had done with that noble man's son in the hallway closet were floating around like dandelion fluff in the wind.

We done nothing––nothing that counted anyway.

Just a few stolen kisses and trailing of fingers, that's all. But with the antediluvian mindsets of my parent's court, the boy's 5 year superiority to me, and the usurping nature of said court the truth was easily distorted.
