Okay excuse me for the rant but as you know I spent a lot of time preparing this story for the wattys 2020.
In the end I decided not to enter. Firstly they don't even read the story. Yes I know how unreasonable it is for them to read every story but they can at least read the first chapter and eliminate people who have a certain number of spelling mistakes in the first few paragraphs and narrow.the list down to a point where they can read the first bit.
They expect people to summarize their work in 3500 words and they judfe you on that. How am I supposed to summarize a 50 chapter story in that much? I have had chapters longer than that. And they want a full, detailed summary with spoilers and the ending included. Absolute madness.
How is anyone supposed to convey flowery, poetic writing in 3500 words?
I summarized as much as I could and ended up with 8533 words. What a waste of my time and effort.
