For the next week our relationship had drastically improved. Said had taken my clamours to heart and had been more open and lively.
We bonded through his talent for art and my appreciation for it.
We changed our a course a bit because Sai had said it was safer. We didn't want to run into more Dark Forces troops.
A question had danced on the tip of tongue of a while but I didn't dare ask. While Sai had become more open he was still closed off on very personal or so called "classified information". For my own safety I supposed.
I glanced at the crimson flowers scattered around the fields we walked along. I supposed that all around the continent Higanbana festivals were being celebrated. Not that we could go to one without chaos erupting.
Sai stood sketching a few as we took a break.
I couldn't help but feel a little nervous.
The meaning of these flowers irked me and their crimson colour reminded me of that night.
I started to shiver until a slightly cold hand rested on my shoulder.
I looked into Sai's coal eyes and my body relaxed. He had become incredibly intune to when I was about to have panic attacks or was thinking too negatively.
I was greatful for his assuring presence even if he was still a bit dense at times.
He had been learning though.
While I had lectured him now and then I wondered how he was suddenly able to pick up on the small social ques he had originally been oblivious too.
I had made the mistake of asking him then.
"Oh I took the liberty of reading this book," he said while pulling out a small hardcover from his pack.
"How to read the situation like a pro..." I read aloud while sweatdropping.
Seriously.
"Sai you can't learn everything from a book," I facepalmed.
He shrugged nonchalantly.
"What will you do when we return," he said mumbling.
"I don't know. I want to see my friends if they are still alive like you claimed. I want to dedicate my life to helping my people. I've been selfish all this time. So putting other people first is a little challenging..." I muttered.
"And after the war," he asked.
"I don't know?" I said unsurely, "What will you do, Sai?"
"Well if I live then maybe I'll travel around and attempt to discover who I am and what I want out of life..." he said his face empty.
"Well then I'll help," I blurted.
He looked confused.
"I'll stay with you and help you discover what you want to do with your life. As a thank you for helping me," I clarified grabbing his hands.
A light blush dusted my cheeks.
A ghost of a smile crept onto his face.
"Then I hope I survive," he said sadly.
"Hey look you almost smiled seems your anti-emotion training wasn't flawless afterall. Of course you'll survive. You're on the winning side afterall I said.
