Meanwhile, Kato and Dela we're nearing the village gates. Screaming could be heard from the inside. Suddenly, they heard a faint voice say "close the gate!" Shocked, they began to dash towards the gate. 10 or so men were pushing a big boulder of off a cliff above to close the gate. Fortunately both Dela and Kato made it inside. Suddenly, they realized that Prae was still with the passerby who littered. Standing by the entrance, they began screaming her name, and when she finally heard, she began to run towards the gate. Right as she dived through the gate, the boulder fell off and crushed Prae's foot. Prae screamed in agony. She just barely didn't make it through, and it infuriated Dela. She had to levitate the rock, it was the only way. The sky was dark and overcast, soon, meteors would rain from the heavens and crush everything.
Dela closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It was hard to concentrate because of Prae's screams of anguish. Kato walked up behind her, and placed his hand on her shoulder. It soothed her a lot. Dela squeezed her eyes shut , and held her hands up. This is a much bigger rock than the ones she trained with earlier, but she absolutely couldn't give up, no matter what. Dela then slowly pressed her hands together, and to her amazement, the boulder began to levitate. She was careful to not lose focus and risk dropping it back on Prae's foot. Once it was high enough, Kato helped Prae to her feet, making sure she didn't put any pressure on her injured foot. Dela just stood there, looking at her palms.
"Did I really just move that huge boulder all by myself..?" Dela pondered, shaken up a little bit.
"Um, excuse me?" Prae started. "My foot is literally shattered and you're too busy worrying about yourself again. You didn't even ask if I was okay!" Prae screamed.
Dela looked at Prae with shocked, hurt eyes. "I literally just saved you! I moved pass my mental barrier and saved your foot!" Dela retorted. "You didn't even say thank you! I don't know what's gotten into you, but I'm starting to regret bringing you along!"
Taken aback, Prae looked Dela in the eyes and blinked back tears. She then ran past Dela and Kato and into the village. She continued to run, even with her shattered foot, until she left the village. Dela looked at Prae in the distance. She was a mere speck, getting smaller, and smaller until she was gone. Dela looked at her feet with tears welling up in her eyes. Kato came up behind her and gave her a hug.
"It's not your fault." Kato whispered.
Dela wipes her tears. "I.. guess it's not. S-she'll be back, right..?" Dela whimpered.
"Of course she will. Come on, let's go and find the village scientist." Kato reassured. He tried to not think about how Prae had all the food and water.
"Yeah.. it's getting dark. We better find the scientist and then find some place to rest for the night." Dela replied, wiping her wet face.
Kato nodded and they began walking through the village. It was chaotic. The sky was grey, but it was hard to tell whether it was from the impending doom or the fact that it was late. Every single villager was panicking and running around.
"I guess they must've heard a boom in the distance from Lillith." Dela said.
Kato nodded, but before he could open his mouth and speak, he grabbed Dela's arm and ran deeper into the village.
Startled, Dela looked at him worriedly. "Sorry about that!" Kato exclaimed over the rumbling in the sky. Dela looked around.
"What's happening?" Dela cried. Kato pointed at the heavens and a huge meteor was hurtling towards the village.
"Hurry, we have to find the scientist!" Dela shrieked. A woman with a lab coat was running near them, away from the boulder, with something in her hand. Before the scientist could flee, the meteor crashed into the middle of the village, just barely missing Dela and Kato. The woman wasn't so lucky, and she was crushed under the meteor. Dela shrieked and turned away. Kato looked at where the woman was crushed, shocked. Upon looking closer, he saw a small vial with the words strength etched into the glass. He picks it up and walks over to Dela.
"Hey Dela, she dropped this." Kato handed the bottle to Dela, who inspected it.
"Strength..?" Dela whispered. "Is this a strength potion? Was that Dr. Dendrick? Is this what we needed?" Dela pondered. She then put the vial in her pocket, and pulled out the map. "Look Kato! The map is changing, just like it did before! The new instructions say.." Dela stopped reading abruptly. Her eyes were stricken with fear.
"Dela..? Dela!" Kato yelled. Kato's brown hair blew in the wind as he stared at Dela with concern. Dela didn't move. Suddenly the ground began to shake as another meteor came crashing from the heavens. Kato grabbed Dela's arm and pulled her out of the way, again. The meteor crashed down right next to the first, right where the pair was standing moments before.
"Are we being targeted?" Kato thought.
"Oh my goodness..." Dela whispered. Kato quickly looked down at her.
"What? What is it? Are you okay?" Kato asked frantically.
Dela closed her eyes and balled her fist. "The-the next task is.." Dela stuttered. "Defeat Darlock."
Kato gasped. He didn't know that it would happen this quick. They already had everything they needed, and now it was time to finish the quest. Kato knew how much pressure she was under, but he didn't know how to comfort her. He put his hand on her shoulder.
"Let's go find a safe place to set up a camp, and get some rest for tomorrow, okay?" Kato whispered. Dela just nodded and began to walk down the path.
