Chapter 31: Awake

Jin's POV:

The door to my room opened, and I looked at the intruder. "Good morning, Jin. How are you feeling?"

"I'm great, Nurse Eunbyul." I smiled at her as she pulled back the curtains allowing the sunlight to permeate the entire room.

She came and stood in front of me with a cup of water and some pills. "I'm glad to hear it." As we had gone through our morning routine, I smiled at the dream I had. As I put on my shirt, I accidentally knocked over the vase Chey gave me. "You have a visitor coming to see you today."

My eyes held shock. I haven't had a visitor since I was admitted here. It's been 5 years. "... I had a dream about Cheyenne. Is she the one coming to see me?"

Nurse Eunbyul froze in her spot and looked at me with sad eyes. Surely she would know of Cheyenne's whereabouts, considering she was her sister-in-law. "Jin..." I couldn't understand why she had unshed tears in her eyes at the mention of Cheyenne's name. "Don't you remember what happened that day?"

I shook my head in confusion as she created distance between us. "The last time I had seen Cheyenne, was when we were escaping from the fire in our mansion." I furrowed my brows trying to regain what I missed that day. "Come to think of it... I haven't seen the guys in so long."

"Jin-" Eunbyul inhaled deeply and cut me with her words. "Cheyenne's been dead for 6 years."

"What?! That can't be!" I jumped to my feet and paced around the room. Grabbing a fist full of hair, I yelled out as my heart shattered. I fell to my knees in shock refusing to believe such words. "How did she die?"

Her arms wrapped around me sending me comfort. "You, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, Namjoon, Jungkook and Yoongi found her when Minho kidnapped her. She was already dead hours before you all arrived... there wasn't anything you could've done to save her..."

Her words weren't making sense. That couldn't be the truth. "No... Cheyenne survived that; Minho is the one who died, and Cheyenne went to jail. She got out early and saved us from the Scorpion Gang and her mother."

"Stop it and listen to me!" She shook me senseless. "...you are the only one who's alive. The others... they're gone too. Yoongi grieved so badly that he set himself on fire. Namjoon poisoned himself. Hoseok died of a drug overdose. Jungkook got hit by a car. Taehyung jumped off a cliff and drowned. Jimin too... Chey's mother... our Mother was murdered by her ex-husband and then he turned the gun on himself."

"...and Mia? What was her fate?" I asked but I didn't want to know. My friends were dead. Eunbyul stood up and wiped at her tears. She walked to the door and placed her hand on the doorknob.

"Judge Sul has signed your release papers. You'll be discharged tomorrow. Please refrain from speaking about the past, otherwise they'll keep you locked up in this mental ward for another 5 years." Eunbyul sighed and left me with more unanswered questions as she closed the door behind her.

I picked myself up off the floor and looked at the white lotus flower in front of me. These pills they've been giving me were suppressing my emotions and my memories. A knock resounded on my door again, and it opened to reveal a familiar face. "Samchon!" Mia smiled and ran into my arms.

"Mia?" I hugged her like she would disappear any moment. "How are you here?"

She smiled brightly and continued to hug me. "I've missed you so much, Samchon!" As she pulled back to look at me, I got a good look at her face. She's grown so much since I'd last seen her. She favors Cheyenne so much it hurts to look at her. "Oh! I almost forgot. This is for you."
