Namjoon's POV:
I've been corresponding with Cheyenne without Yoongi's knowledge. Guilt has been eating at me since that day, and I try to make admends to Chey by still pretending like nothing's wrong- even though everything is wrong. Once we hang up the phone I go on with my life on the outside, while Chey is stuck paying for a crime she didn't commit.
Whenever the anniversary of his death comes around I turn off the TV, lock myself in my room and cover my ears with my hands. Self-hate has consumed my being.
I wish I could love myself....
Every time I call Chey, I do it from a payphone... afraid that if the others found out they would... Aish- I just don't know anymore. I'm not sure of anything... I question everything... Paranoia has become my shadow.
The payphone I use is out of town. I take the bus to get there every time. Sometimes, my niece Mia comes along. She's the good part of us. It breaks my heart that she's been tainted by our lies, resulting in her mother being ripped from her life. Yoongi adores his daughter; he tries to shield her from the hate in the world, but it's hard to do when he's always working.
Speaking of Mia, the guys and I know that Yoongi was at the party that night many years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday:
Flashback:
Yoongi was running late as usual, so he told us that he'd meet us there. We weren't close to Minho, but Yoongi invited us anyway. Plus, it was the New Year, and we wanted to have fun. Minho let us into his house, introduced us to a couple of people and showed us to the drinks.Once we got a little bit of alcohol into our systems, it became easier to socialize. Chey arrived shortly after we did. "Hey, where's Yoongi? I thought he'd be coming with you." I approached her and pulled her into my embrace.
She chuckled and hugged me back. "He said he'd pick me up, but you guys had already left. Michael dropped me off." Minho snuck up behind her and scared her. "Ya! Don't do that! I nearly jumped out of my skin!" I would never get tired of hearing her American sayings. They were always so interesting.
"Sorry sorry." Minho held in his laughter and handed Chey a bottle of water since she didn't drink alcohol.
She accepted his offer by taking the bottle, but I had seen the reluctance in her eyes. "Thanks..." Minho nodded and left to check on his guests. I watched as she took another identical bottle of water out of her purse and switch it with the one Minho gave her. She drank it all and Minho appeared immediately. He took her trash and walked away.
Chey dragged me outside to the back porch and secretly poured out the water Minho gave to her earlier. "He and Yoongi may be cool, but I don't trust him..."
