Welcome to Ennis

Pop. 840 people

11,000,000 Trout

I chuckled as we passed the sign. From what I've learned since I've been in this state is that these people had a sense of humor.

Since we have gotten on the highway, I've noticed that we have been following Maddison river that flows through Ennis. I was excited. I loved the sound of the water flowing through the creek beds.

I was amazed at the open space that the little town provided. We passed a couple of farmers fields and horses in pastures, grazing, before the town came into view.

What I saw amazed me even more.

The buildings were all old school; as I drove down main street, I noticed that most of the malls and stores are built with woodIt felt like it took you back in time to the old west. Even though there are cars and a paved road, they still kept the buildings.

I parked on the side of the road in front of the building that said Remax, with my trailer still hooked up.

I better make this quick. I thought. Not only am I blocking most of the parking spots, but I don't want my horse to stay out there for very long.

After killing the engine and locking the doors, I went inside. As I opened the door I immediately saw mounts of bulls and bucks on the wooden wall, both small enough to fit in the small office.

"Hello. What can I do for ya?" I heard a sweet voice say, making me bring my attention in front of me to a lady behind a small oak desk.

"Well." I said, walking towards her, a bit unsure. "Is this the place where I can invest in a small home?"

"Yes it is." she said motioning for me to sit. "What kind of home are you looking for?"

"I would like to have a two bedroom and two bath that has at least a fourteen acre property." I told her as I took my seat across from her.

After showing me a couple houses that weren't close to town, I finally found the home that would match my lifestyle.

It was a small log cabin that had a two bedroom and two baths. It was small enough for me but big enough to have two people living in it.

The house was located at the base of the mountain so it was blocking most of the wind that came through here. The house was sitting on a fifteen acre land that was surrounded by pine trees and evergreens, making it seem secluded.

There was room for my trailer and a corral where Nickel can run in. By the fence, near the opening of the gate, was, what I would assume, a tack shed and right next to it was a three wall hay barn with a tin roof so the alfalfa wouldn't get moldy after the rain.

There were tree branches hanging over the corral and a couple trees in it so Nickel would stay out of the weather.

I turned to the real estate, who's name I just found out was Samantha, and smiled, "I love it."

"You like it?" she asked with a glint of happiness in her eyes.

I nodded. "I love it. How much does this home cost?"

She flipped through some papers before giving me a price.

"$259,799?" I asked and looked around to see if the property was worth that much money.

Liking what I see, I looked back at her and nodded. "I'll take it."

I was ecstatic. This would be my first home that I bought, that wouldn't be filled with dread every time I would come home.
