I had a gut feeling that something was amiss.
Something was just not right. That day felt like It was going to be atrocious. I failed to keep calm. My breathing heaved. I disregarded all wrong thoughts speeding up to my mind and ran upstairs to wake the olden couple up.
They woke up and looked at me with startled eyes.
"What time is it?" PaDavid questioned.
"Oh! It's just 5:45 am." I replied, relaxing him a bit.
You will be late for school Mia hurry up."
MaMalicia cried still struggling to come to reality. I held her by the shoulders and shook her, " I told you right? Today is a holiday because the Annual Day's preparations are on the go." "Oh yeah! I forgot".
Probably last nights late celebrations didn't let these people have a comfortable sleep. They suddenly realised they missed something.
They both stood up, hugged me and greeted me with loads of Birthday wishes. "Our Mia is grown-up now. She is 13!" Exclaimed both of them with a sense of pride in their eyes for being the ones who brought me up all these years. 7 years had passed! Countless tears and innumerable smiles let the days pass in a blow. I was 13 now! Mature enough for taking my decisions.
But still I didn't feel very happy about it.This thought troubled me a lot. Probably because I wasn't a kid anymore and now my grannys would leave me to be on my own or it was something else. I gave my arm a little pinch. Ouch! That was hurting. C'mon, I wasn't going to ruin my much awaited 13th Birthday because of a mere intuition! I was dying from inside but I forced a smile on my face, so that my grannys didn't come to know about it.
But of course, they are my grandparents! They both quickly understood that something was fishy. They asked me why I looked like a bit disappointed when I was likely to be overwhelmed and super excited. I told them everything, how I felt and how my intuitions didn't seem to be nice.
They consoled me by saying that perhaps it was because of the stormy weather but it looked like their faces had suddenly lost their colours.
