I woke up with a thud. 3:01 am. Was it all a dream? Or no, A Nightmare. Terrible one. I could hear my grannys loud snores. I had beads of perspiration over my forehead. I strode out of my room. I walked along the long corridor. It seemed empty. I felt chills passing over my body firstly, because of the dream and secondly, of course ,because three a.m. is regarded as the witching hour.

All I could hear was the tik-tok of the clock and the sound of my sandals on the wooden floor. I went to the kitchen and poured a glass of chilled water to bring down the temperature of my burning forehead.

Then, I tip-toed out of the kitchen making sure I didn't wake my grandies up. As I walked through the corridor, I saw my grandma sitting quietly with her head bowed down on the couch.

I shouted out to her in a rather low whisper," MA, is there any problem? Why are you still awake?" She looked at me and smiled,"Nothing my child, I just don't feel like sleeping." I crept close to her and we started chatting. She seemed very warm. It actually lowered my fears. Just then, I felt thirsty again.

It was because my mouth was extremely dry because of waking up so scared. So I asked her to excuse me for a while. I drank water, peed and came back in an instance of 5 minutes or so.

When I entered the living room, the couch was empty. I was puzzled. Where did she go? She wasn't there in the washroom nor in the kitchen. I ran to her room to check where she was. It was around 3:45am when I looked at the huge grandfather clock in the room.

She was fast asleep with her quilts on. Seeing her, one could make out that she was in a deep sleep. She always wakes up even at the sound of a pin drop. But this time, she was snoring loudly. She looked carefree of the world. I smiled and took an about turn, straight to my dorm.

The night was sleepless. I killed the rest of my time reading 4.50 From Paddington, a book by my most favourite author, the crime queen, Agatha Christie. Hours passed. I couldn't make out the time but when I opened the curtains, it was dawn. 4:30 to 5 am was the time, I guessed trying to act like I was in a suspense novel. Then I wandered around the house like a lonely cloud until it was time for school.
