Catra had gone delusional. Everywhere she looked she saw the disappointment in everyone's faces, even when no one was there. The only peace she was able to latch onto was when she slept and even then her dreams were racked with horrible dreams and visions of all people she loved dying or abandoning her. She found no peace, she contemplated death once or twice, but that wouldn't make her feel any better.
As she continued her journey to nowhere she constantly heard a voice,it was faint but it was definitely there. As much as she tried to ignore it,it just wouldn't go away. Catra asked herself every single day, 'what's wrong with me?' She was now laying on her back staring up into the sky covered from head to toe in blood. Not her blood, but couldn't remember who's. She preferred to keep it that way.
'My goodness! I leave you for five minutes and I come back to you've taken a blood bath.' Catra didn't move, "It's just another illusion", she told herself. 'Why,I believe you've wounded me. I am more than a mere illusion, you should now that. I mean, you've talked to me for years until that wretched princess corrupted your mind and turned you into a pathetic shell of what you could have been.' Catra didn't move or even evert her gaze from the midnight sky above. "I wonder if this is what insanity feels like?"
The voice gave an audible chuckle before seemingly manifesting itself out of nothing into a nearly perfect image of Catra, these could have been twins if it weren't for the missing limbs or the whole in her gut that showed her organs and was still gushing out blood and didn't show any signs of stopping, and the missing eye . 'Do not worry child. You will not end up like this,so long as you stay as you stay at my side.'
Catra propped herself up with her shoulders and eyed the decaying image of herself, "I must have lost everything for me to see this image of myself. I really must have lost my mind." The illusion laughed, sending shivers down Catra's spine at the echo of it's laughter. 'Do not worry my child,I will help you regain all you have lost. All I need from you is your body.'
Catra laughed and blushed slightly, "Eh,sorry. I'm not interested in dead illusions and I've already got my eyes on someone right now." The illusion narrowed her eyes and scoffed before vanishing. Catra stood up and looked to the sky,she sighed before turning her gaze to a river. "If I'm going to keep traveling I'm going to need to wash this off.
Catra began to walk to the steam until she felt an agonizing sharp pain in her gut. She tried to scream as she felt blood fill her mouth but she found herself unable to. A voice whispered in her ears but no one was anywhere near,it was Caya. 'Why did I ever think to go to BrightMoon? I should have listened to dad and dropped the search years ago.'
Another.
'You know, maybe it was a good thing that ShadowWeaver took you as a child,I actually had some peace and quiet. My wife is dead because of you!'
And another.
'I should have killed back at the at the festival! No,I should have killed you sooner! I can't believe I had the nerve to have mercy on such a waste of space!'
No matter how hard she tried to block out the hissing and vicious word from the people she once called family. Her legs gave out as she collapsed in a puddle of blood, but where did it come from? She noticed the feeling of holes forming on her skin,it felt like she was being stabbed or she was being burnt all over her arms and legs. The pain was especially vivid in her left eye and her abdomen. Catra lifted her hand up to her eye but felt not her eye,but a gaping hole, she then reached down to her stomach but her hand went straight through.
A sickening laugh filled her ears as she then noticed the second reflection of herself in the steam. All the wounds were healing and she looked exactly like Catra before all the wounds. The doppelgänger twirled her fingers in her dark brown hair as she had a wicked smirk on her face.
"I said I needed her body,I didn't need it physically, just the image. You can stay here in my place as I ruin your family and get revenge on your pathetic father." The doppelgänger laughed as she turned her heels and walked away leave Catra in a crumbled heap of pain, sadness and the thought of her being replaced by a malevolent being with a murderous intent and a vendetta against her father.
'Daddy,I'm sorry'Catra cried out as she began to fade. 'You were right. I should have stayed at the FrightZone.' And with that she became nothing more than the beasts shadow, forever doomed to wander in limbo behind what she once was. "This is going to be easier than I thought. Day one : complete."
