Me: "Thanks for this opportunity, Doc."
John: "No prob."
Me: "What made you become a doctor?"
John: "It's a long winding path for me. You might know it or not, my mom committed suicide a long time ago. When I were just a child. Unluckily, I, uh...witnessed it..."
Me: "I'm sorry to hear that."
John only shrugs his shoulders. He doesn't seem needing my sympathy.
Me: "Did you vow become a psychiatrist because of her death?"
John: "Part of my reasons. I spent my childhood in a mental hospital. Bouncing from one doctor to another one. Medicines in various types were their only solutions for me."
Me: "Oh, John..."
He only smiles sadly.
John stares to the ceiling. His fingers are taping his desk in a certain interval. Like a classic Melody.
No, I was wrong.
It's the rhythm of a popular song,
"Wake me up."John finally says, "Been using drugs, hurting myself, still haven't found any peace in my heart. Until I travelled to India and studied under a Guru, a spiritual teacher."
I say nothing.
John adds, "The only one who could heal my heart is myself. Accepting my flaws. Accepting my past."
Me: "So, does it really work?"
John chuckles.
John: "Knowing I'm not the guilty one helped a lot. Mom died and I couldn't help her. That would crush any child's heart."
Me: "I would say I'm sorry. But that would be a lie. There's no way I could understand the pain in your heart."
John: "An honest statement, author."
I laugh sheepishly this time.
Me: "I'm not a writer. Just an amateur one. Everytime someone read my book, I would be thrilled. Happy beyond words."
John smiles widely.
John: "You would get there some day."
Me: "I hope so. Most of the times I felt like...Gosh, it isn't worthy. I'm calling it quits. Then I remembered you and your life story. And I..."
John winks an eye to me.
John: "Nice to know I could inspired someone."
We laugh together. It's no wonder he could become an excellent psychiatrist. He is a very good listener. And he really did listening. Not just pretending to care.
Me: "Enough about me. Have you got any messages to send to the readers out there?"
John: "Albert Einstein once said if you judged a fish based on its abilities in climbing a tree. The fish would be stupid for its entire life."
Me: "Agreed. A fish should be judged by its swimming abilities. Do you mean everyone is unique?"
John: "Yes. Parents don't push your kids to get straight A on every subjects. If he's a natural born musician, it would be hard for him to learn maths. Vice versa. Someone who excels in maths would have difficulties in learning languages or history."
Me: "Basically, inspire our kids to be the best in their fields. Based on their natural abilities."
John: "Exactly. It's okay to make MISTAKES. We are humans after all. Teach them to learn from their mistakes. Making amends. Not scoldings them until they fled from you."
Me: "I'm going to type these words in italic and bold. So the readers would remember them."
John: "Thanks. Many adults suffered psychological problems. Why? Because they were physically or mentally abused during their childhood days."
Me: "Now you scared me. I got a kid too."
John: "Just make sure your kid have enough time to play. To balance her life from all those studying. You could only be a kid once. People nowadays simply forgotten it."
Me: "I will. Thanks for your time, Doc."
John smiles warmly and shakes my hand.
John: "My pleasure."

Well, folks. That's a special interview with Dr. John Jameson. One unique psychiatrist who really cared for his patients.
He received high fees from his rich clients (billionaires, politicians, actor/ actresses, and etc). But he gave great discounts to poor ones. Sometimes he even treated poorest patients for free.
In some cases.Wished there would be more good doctors out there.
Doctors who really care for their patients. Not just giving prescription and it's over.
-------------------------------------------------
I go back to knock on the door of Doc's office.
John raises his head and makes a gesture for me to sit down.
Me: "Off the record. How did the Bowen couples go?"
John: "You mean Leon Garcia and his wife?"
Me: "Yeah. The news shocked us all. A popular handsome bachelor ended up married to his sister."
John: "Not blood related. It's all over the news."
Me: "True. Some folks still think it's incest an all."
John: "They are happily married. That's the only thing you need to know."
Me: "Okay. Sorry for bothering you again. No worries. It's off the record."
John: "Okay. Nice to see you too."
I closed the door behind me.
John stares to his laptop. Leon Garcia just send him a photo of him and Angel. White Sandy Beach. No info on the place.
The caption:
I love her. Thanks for everything. They look happy together.
John wished the paparazzi would stop bothering them. Found another target soon.
These two deserved to be happy.
He stretches his body and begins to look for the patient files.
Another busy day in his hospital.
