"is it okay to be sad?" areum sighed to herself as she stared at the picture frame of her younger self with hyunjin. maybe others weren't affected by a fight with one of their friends, but hyunjin meant so much to her. all her moments of her life was spent with him. it was hard to live without seeing him.

the picture in her grasp made her eyes fill up with tears. "gosh, are we really going to be like this because of some girl? what does he see in her?"

areum quickly wiped the tears away with the back of her hand. she never liked to cry. she wanted to be strong. her definition of strong was to be there for other people even if she was having a hard time.

little hyunjin was adorable. he was especially a bit shorter than her as she was taller by a few inches. the two were in second grade at that time.

areum had hyunjin on her back as a look of discomfort was on her face while hyunjin was grinning in amusement. his smile was bigger than the universe with his eyes squinted cutely. that made areum laugh, but she didn't feel like smiling.

"hey, kids! pose for the picture quickly!" areum's grandmother sighed in disappointment. they were wiggling around too much that she was a bit impatient with the way they acted. "children!" that was loud enough to grab their attention.

areum lowered her head down. "sorry, grandma. we will behave better." areum's grandmother shook her head with a small smile placed on her face.

"if you're sorry then you would be listening to me." areum's grandmother was babysitting her and hyunjin as both their parents were busy with work. since the two kids wanted to go outside and play, areum's grandmother thought it would be a great idea to take a picture for happy memories.

"it's my fault," hyunjin spoke up as he saw the small tears poking areum's eyes. he held the girl's hand gently, trying to look guilty. "i'm sorry."

areum's grandmother's face softened. she waved the camera in her hand a little. she knew the two were young so they didn't understand how to stay still. especially when they're giddy and energetic.

"don't worry kids, just pose for the camera? ready?"

areum quickly wiped her tears away, getting ready to do whatever pose as possible and smiled at the camera. hyunjin on the other hand thought it was silly to not do anything fun so he pushed areum a little, catching her off guard.

"you're no fun," hyunjin frowned a little. "give me a piggy back ride instead."

"no, you're like one thousand pounds!" areum teased with a slight giggle escaping her lips. hyunjin began to pout and he crossed his arms.

"fine, be like that," he muttered, turning away from her. areum blinked as she didn't understand why hyunjin was now mad at her. shaking her head a little, she gave in to him.

"hyunjin, get on my back," she demanded with a small glare. at the mention of his name, eight year old hyunjin grinned and turned back around to wrap his arms around her tightly.

"okay!" he gleamed, his eyes sparkling while his smile was brighter than the sun. areum had to bend her legs a little for hyunjin to climb on her back. when he successfully did, areum grunted at how heavy he was.
