Wad talked with his parents for hours and King heard every word of what was said. He'd come in about an hour after Wad had explained to his parents that he had a big crush on a senior named Prem to bring him food and drink
He wasn't surprised at all when Wad's parents couldn't remember who he was.
He'd told them he wasn't anyone too important and they shouldn't bother with it, sitting next to Wad to remind him they were under a time constraint.
The moment it turned dark, they had to be back at the college. Wad didn't have a choice at the moment, as whatever truces the gangs of Bangkok had made in the past were next to useless.
King cared for his cousin quite a lot, even when his aggressive personality made him seem more like an asshole than family.
When he was seventeen, Wad was thirteen and was playing basketball with a bunch of kids from the neighborhood whose parents were hookers, drug dealers, druggies, and alcoholics. He warned Wad from playing with them because he knew there were a few people among Wad's friends that came from rival gangs.
Wad ignored him and continued to play with them which resulted in one of King's guard's death because he was shadowing the younger cousin.
Wad would never know that he inadvertently cost the life of a man that was protecting him. To this day, Wad still believes King punished him purely because Wad thought he was going against his cousin.
He didn't want anything too bad to happen to Wad but in King's eyes, the only way to make that happen was to give Wad something to remember it by.
It worked almost all the time.
Wad never played with those people again, although they didn't really want to play with Wad again either.
Wad told his parents he was gay.
That was the first thing that they talked about after Wad was able to properly talk and it took King by no surprise.
He'd seen the way Prem and Wad looked at each other. The next step was for Prem to admit that he loved Wad and give Wad time for the feelings to brew from liking Prem into loving him.
It was a new mission for King, one that he actually wanted.
His parents were the people Wad wasn't worrying about when he told them that he was gay. They would forget him and they would forget everything he told them today so it wouldn't matter what their reaction would be.
He just wanted to get it off of his chest.
It had been weighing him down ever since he met Prem. and quite frankly it was driving him up the wall.
"Excuse me," King interrupted when their conversation came to a natural stop, "But it is getting dark out and I have to take Wad back to the college. His roommate is coming back today and he left his keys in their dorm room."
The two parents nodded and sent off Wad with tight hugs and a kiss from his mother.
King could tell that there was something more in Wad's heart when they left the building. Seeing and hearing his parents like that, knowing who exactly their son was, it was one of the best feelings that Wad had experienced in a long time.

Upon arriving at the university, King could tell that something was off with the seniors.
His driver pulled up to the bus in the SUV but King didn't let Wad get out. Instead, he sat there and he watched just how the group interacted since the gathering at the beach.
