Returning to the university was something that Wad never imagined happening. And the way he returned made him feel more like an outcast than before.
He had missed the honor of being on Kongpob's hazer team, which made his heart hurt slightly. He always wondered what it would be like, to see Kong being the hazer instead of the person standing up to them.
He also was suddenly in a severe lack of friends.
Unfortunately, due to his status among King's squad, he himself didn't feel comfortable making friends. Although, it wasn't like he would make any willingly in the first place. He was barely ever friends with Kong.
Everyone was out doing their internships, and Wad felt like he was behind, lagging behind everything that he hoped to be.
King refused to elaborate on what happened between him and Prem, which made Wad distrust him. And with a lack of people to talk to on a daily basis as friends, he felt alone.
It was almost like he was traveling abroad again, only this time he understood everything that was being said but he still felt terrifyingly singled out.
Kong attempted to remedy this loneliness by getting Wad in contact with the hazers for the Engineering sophomores. They gladly accepted Wad as one of their own after Kong had asked them to, but it didn't seem to make this any better.
He worked with the other sophomores as one would coworkers, with a strict business approach. He was friendly and kind to the freshmen, but he found himself working harder and harder so he would have excuses to not help them out.
The juniors went to Kong about this, who apologized but stated there was nothing he could do. Wad was his close friend, and this was how Wad had always been.
Kong told the other hazers that Wad would be their challenge to prove to him that they were open-minded and possessed the ability to adapt.
But the students talked.
Not to other colleges, the Engineering college always held close ranks with each other, but they chatted amongst each other.
Rumors spread of Wad blackmailing Kong, which eventually got so out of hand that every senior hazer of Kongpob and Arthit's squad (except for Prem) arrived at a speech given to all Engineering students. Even Deer made an appearance, which was remarkably rare these days.
The rumors were shut down instantly and nothing but a cool and dark aura of mysterious energy lived around Wad.
It was nearly two months after Wad had returned to Thailand that Kong decided to tell him the truth of what happened between Prem and King.
------------------------------------
Wad sat at the lunch table, his nose in a textbook and his earbuds in, ignoring the world around him until 1:30. Kong had the day off and had Arthit drop him off at the college to talk to Wad.He had been practicing what to say all night, resulting in Arthit falling asleep to Kong trying to memorize what he wrote down earlier in the day.
Knocking on the table, Kong waited for Wad to pull out his earbuds and pay attention before he spoke. Slowly, Wad lifted his head and his eyes met Kong's. They were dulled, and a certain life that had been inside them when he was younger was gone.
He was tired, and this time it couldn't be attributed to travel.
"Sawdee Kong," Wad spoke, turning off his music, "Aren't you supposed to be with P'Arthit? It's your day off."
Kong nodded, "Yeah, but I think that it's time that I tell you the truth."
Wad's attention had forgotten the book in front of him and any knowledge from before Kong's arrival. He knew exactly what Kong was talking about.
