A week has gone by since the prank night fiasco. I've stayed in my room as much as I can, avoiding everyone. Lucky for me, everyone has been dealing with whatever it is they do.
Nik has left town suddenly without even saying good bye. But he doesn't seem like the type to do so anyways. I sit in my room during the early mornings, not being able to sleep well for the past week.
I hear Elena's alarm go off. I look at my alarm clock and see it's 5:15 am. The clock shuts off, and I hear Elena shuffling around her room. I give out a sigh, I wonder why she's been getting up so early. Not to long later I hear the front door slam shut, informing me that I'm home alone, again.
I decide to not stay sulking in the house all day. Sometime after I got ready and headed out of the house, walking into town. Knowing that day is the first day back at school, and the traditional home coming bonfire was going to happen, I didn't feel worried about running into anyone I've been avoiding.
I was looking at random clothes when my phone goes off notifying me that I've got a text. I reach into my pocket to see a random number texting me.
- Klaus wants me to check up on you, but I haven't seen you for a week.
I furrow my brows at the text, Klaus? Who could be possibly helping him in this town?
- First, who is this? Second, I'm fine.
I respond, and patiently wait for a response.
- It's Stefan.
That's all what the text read. I shrug, knowing that conversation ended. I continued to look around before deciding to leave. As I walk down the street, someone walks up next to me and hooks their arm with mine.
"You are accompanying me to the bonfire, and I'm not taking no for an answer." Rebekah says, startling me.
"Hate to burst your bubble Bek's, but I'm not in high school teen, so technically I can't go." I tell her as we walk down the street heading towards my place.
She pouts, " Fine. While I'm out having fun, you can sit alone at home, thinking about Nik." Rebekah sassily replies.
I stop once we reach my house, and laugh at what she says. "Have fun Rebekah." I tell her.
She lets out an annoyed huff, "Next party I go to, You're coming as well, no excuses." she tells me, crossing her arms.
"Whatever floats your boat Rebekah." I reply, walking towards the door, before walking in I go to wave goodbye to her but shes already gone.
A few days had past and Rebekah has kept to her word. Rebekah has dragged me to the Salvatore Boarding house to have a fashion show so that we can pick dresses for the homecoming dance that was coming up.
As we were hanging out we talked of our lives getting to know each other better. I told Rebekah of my parents and my time at school. Rebekah talked to me of her time as a human and of her other brothers, Finn, Kol, and Henrik.
She told me some stories of Nik and Elijah and the story of her father, Mikeal. She went into some more details compared to Nik's story, which allowed the fear I felt towards Mikeal to be more justified.
As the fashion runway continued, more so for Rebekah, she opens a bottle of champagne, getting glasses for both of us. I had picked a white and silver flow-y dress that was simple yet layered.
Rebekah was having a hard time deciding between the rainbow of dresses that she had decided she liked. The door to the boarding house opens and Elena enters the foyer where we were.
"Hey! What's up?" Rebekah cheerfully says to Elena, as she walks into the room.
"You invited me over? to talk?" Elena reminds Rebekah, confused as to what was happening.
"All right girls, have at it." Rebekah calls out.
The girls that Rebekah compelled came out in the rainbow of dresses. "You compelled your own fashion show?" Elena asks, still confused as before.
"I need a homecoming dress and your sister already has hers, and needs to leave. So, what do you think? Pick one." Rebekah tells Elena, as I was putting my dress away in a dress bag.
"I'm not here to help you shop. I'm here to talk about why you don't want me to wake up Mikeal." Elena stubbornly sasses Rebekah.
Rebekah looks at me and give each other a sigh. Rebekah speeds to one of the runway girls and threateningly gets close to biting her neck. "I said, 'pick one' Elena." she tells Elena.
Elena looks panic-ed, "The red one." she tells Rebekah after a moment of hesitation.
Rebekah leans away from the girl. "There. It wasn't so hard, was it." she tells Elena then faces the compelled girls, "Go away, remember nothing." she tells them ans they walk away.
"Well, I'm leaving now. See you later Bekah." I announce, my stuff in hand as I wave, Rebekah returns the wave. I head out the door to my car and drive home.
The next day, the 16th of September, is my birthday. I spent the day out taking photos, just relaxing and enjoying what I love.
I have gotten calls from Elena, Jeremy, and Caroline, but I let them all go to voice mail, not wanting anything to ruin my day with possible questions about Nik that I most likely couldn't answer.
By the time I got home, the sun has set, and I walk straight to my room. Then my phone rings, I check it to see and unknown number. I answer it, "Hello?" confusion and hesitation in my tone.
"Happy Birthday Love!" Nik's voice fills my ears, surprising me.
" Nik!? How did you..?" I couldn't finish my sentence from the surprise.
"A little ripper told me." Nik informs me, a smirk obviously on his face from his tone.
"How did you get my number?" I ask confusion still in my voice.
"Also got it from Stefan, now, how was your day love?" Nik asks, sounding genuinely curious.
"Good. I spent it by myself taking photo's all day." I explain, laying down in my bed.
"Sounds like a relaxing day. I was expecting an epic party, considering my sister is there." Nik says with a chuckle at the end.
I laugh as well, "I don't do parties, and I didn't tell her." I explain.
"Oh, don't tell her that, she'll have a fit." Nik teases, causing me to laugh again.
"You having fun with hybrids?" I ask, curiosity getting to me.
"It's going well, why do you miss me already?" Nik teases again, bet a smirk was on his face again.
I roll my eyes despite him unable to see me, "Would it be crazy if I say yes." I reply.
"Well, lucky for us, we'll be seeing each other soon." Nik tells me surprising me.
"Really? When is soon?" I ask, a smile finding a way to my face.
"That's a surprise, birthday girl. Now, have a good night. I'll be seeing you soon love." Nik tells me.
"Alright, goodnight Nik." I tell him softly.
"Goodnight Clara." He response. We hang up and I stare at the ceiling with a smile on my face.
