Chapter Fourteen

Early the next morning I arrive to the mansion as requested by Rebekah for 'ball prep' as she put it. Immediately as I got in, Rebekah took me to the main room to start getting our nails done. We sat there just enjoying the music, then Kol and Elijah began getting there suits tailored and fitted for them. Rebekah just rolls her eyes as Kol decides to get his done right in front of us. 

"Rebekah, tell me how handsome I am." Kol says to his sister while he was looking at himself in the mirror.

She looks at me, rolling her eyes again causing me to smile at the two, "Ah, Kol, you know I can't be compelled." She says, causing me to let out a soft laugh.

"Very well, Clara dear, how do you think I look?" Kol asks , looking over at me through the mirror.

I give him a smile, "Perfectly handsome Kol." I tell him, and he gives his sister a 'see' look, causing me to laugh again.

The door opens and Nik comes storming in. "You went after Elena? What is wrong with you?" Nik says, walking up to Rebekah.

I let out a sigh and look over towards Elijah who was behind the couch getting fitted for his suit. He gives me a small smile, not surprised by his brothers outbursts at this point,

"Here we go." Rebekah just says, smiling as she waits for her brother to threaten her.

"Do you want another dagger in your heart?" Nik threatens her, as predicted.

"Really Nik?" I question him as to why he chooses to say that.

"Again with the dagger threats? Don't you have any other tricks?" Kol annoyingly asks.

"Oh, go back to staring at yourself." Nik tells his little brother, just as annoyed.

"And who are you, my father?" Kol mutters, annoyed as well.

"No, Kol, but you're in my house." Nik reminds Kol, walking up to him.

"Hmm, then perhaps we should go outside." Kol offers to his brother, as they stare at each other.

Before I could try and ease the tension, their mother, Esther, I learned her name to be, came in. "Enough! Niklaus, come." She says stopping a potential fight.

As Nik walks away, Kol just smirks at as he leaves.

My nails were done being painted now and were drying. Rebekah stands from her seat then grabs my arm and has me stand. "Come now Clara, we have things to do in town." Rebekah says.

"Oh, okay. Here, go to my car. I'll meet you there, I just have to grab my stuff." I tell her, giving her my keys. She nods then walks out.

I walk around the room grabbing my stuff then head to the door, "Clara!" Nik voice says from the stairs sounding a bit frantic. I turn as he's now in front of me.

"Hi Nik. Are you okay?" I ask, concern filling me.

Nik give me a smile, "I'm fine love, I uh, just wanted to ask you something." Nik tells me.

I smile, "Ask away!" I tell him, curious as to what he'll tell me.

"I was wondering if you'll allow me the honor of escorting you this evening." He asks, seeming a bit nervous, something I've never really seen Nik be.

I could feel a blush come on my face. "Yeah. I'd like that." I say, with a small laugh at the end.

"Excellent. I'll see you tonight." Nik says with a smile on his face.

I smile, then turn to the door, opening and walking out. I put on my jacket and start to walk to my car the Rebekah was waiting for me in.

"Clara!" I hear my voice being called again, and turn to see Elijah.
