Humming, the six-year-old girl merrily skipped through the dark hallway. Her black hair bounced on her shoulders with every skip she made. Her sandals softly clicked and clacked against the floor, and it was the only sound heard throughout the hallway. She was on her way to the library to find a book the Ancient One requested for her to read, so that it could keep her occupied for the time being.

She managed to find the library and wandered into the dark room. She was definitely afraid of the darkness, as it was every child's worst fear at one moment in their life, but she was so eager to read the books that it went over her head. The tiny girl strolled through many rows of bookshelves, searching for any interesting books.

Passing the shelves, a green bright light flashed at her. Grabbing the little girl's attention, she backtracked her steps and halted, gazing deeply at the bronze or gold amulet, which contained the source of the green shimmering light. The object in the shape of an eye sat on top of the platform stand. She tilted her head in curiosity, watching the eye open to reveal a brighter greener light coming from something round and solid within the center of the eye. Attracted like a moth, she approached closer to the light. It was as if the ancient artifact was inviting her to touch it. She stood on her tippy toes and leaned against the stand. Her small fingers reached to grasp the green bright stone.

"Genesis?" A female voice calls out her name, but it was faint. It was as if the girl's senses were blocked out. Her main focus was aimed at the green object. "Genesis! Don't touch it!"

Already seizing the stone, there was a blinding green flash throughout the library.

Genesis' POV

My eyes fluttered open to a dark room. The clock in my bedroom continued to tick and tick. I inhaled deeply.

That dream again?

I turned to my side and reached for my phone on my bedside table to check the time. I squinted at my phone's screen brightness.

4:44 AM

I groaned, tossing my phone back into the table. Throwing myself back onto my bed, I clamped my eyes shut.

Out of all the times, I wake up at this hour?

I wanted to go back to sleep, but I needed to prepare my lesson for my kids. Despite knowing that, I continued to lay on my bed for about eight minutes, trying to fight the urge to close my eyes and go back to sleep.

Rubbing my eyes, I forced myself out of bed and exited my bedroom to my bathroom. After washing my face and applying my moisturizer, I walked out of the bathroom and back into my room to retrieve my laptop. Then, I walked into my kitchen to make myself some breakfast.

Getting three slices of bread, I soaked them into my egg mixture of egg, milk, salt, and other spices. I got a pan out and placed the soaked bread in my pan, cooking them until they were golden. I didn't have any other fruits besides strawberries, so I washed and cut them, peeling the green leaves off in the process. Then, I made some coffee to make myself stay awake and energized for the day. Sitting down with my breakfast, I opened my laptop to check any of my notifications. I sipped my hot coffee while scrolling through my emails.

Well, there weren't any emails yet, since it's like what? Five in the morning?

I decided to click into my files, pulling up my lesson plans. I began to review and edit them.
