Genesis' POV

When my phone vibrated with a notification sound, I glanced down at my screen. My eyes widened, noticing a message from Brock.

Yesterday, during training, he made me exchange numbers with him so that he could remind me of our training days. I honestly think he wanted something more than that. Or maybe I was just jumping to conclusions?

Hey gorgeous, training in two hours. If you need a ride, text me.

I rolled my eyes, groaning.

He needs to quit with these nicknames.

"Are you serious..." I muttered. "We literally just worked out yesterday." I rubbed my neck to try to soothe my soreness.

Yes, please. Quit calling me that.

Well, today's training will be a lovely addition to my ongoing pain.

I mentally screamed.

"Is there a problem?" I heard Steve ask across from me.

Crap...I forgot that he was here with me.

I shook my head. "Oh, don't worry about it, Steve," I reassured him with a small smile. "But, I think we're gonna have to end our hang out for today. Is that fine?"

Steve nodded. "Yeah, that's okay."

We both rose from our seats. I actually had a nice time today. Maybe if I wasn't so behind on my lesson plans and looked decent enough, we could have another hangout.

I reached for my laptop. "I really enjoyed-"

All of a sudden, black splotches began to cloud my vision. I frowned, furrowing my eyebrows together. I couldn't see. I blinked repeatedly in an attempt to remove the black dots.

What is happening? I never had this.

"Genesis?" I heard Steve call my name.

I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to breathe evenly to hopefully calm myself. I shook my head. It wouldn't go away. I grabbed onto something, anything to hold me up. I was sucked into a scene.

The doorbell rang.

"Monica! There's someone at the door!" Two young boys exclaimed at an older female.

"I'm coming!" The black-haired female rushed to the door. "Mama and baba are already back home?" She thought aloud.

Opening the door, there was no one outside. It was only darkness.

The female sighed. "Stupid kids. They need to stop with the ding dong ditch." About to close the door, a bullet grazed her arm. She let out a scream and clutched her arm. She slammed the door, pressing her back against it. She groaned at the pain as she applied pressure to her arm.

My knees buckled at the sight. I felt someone grab me, but I didn't recognize who.

"Monica?" One of the boys called.
