Genesis' POV

While my third graders were out at lunch, I was in my classroom, trying to sort out and organize the field trip forms to the Smithsonian Institution.

"Genesis!" Whitney called, entering my classroom.

I raised my head. "Oh, hey, Whitney," I greeted with a smile.

"Are you busy this Saturday?" She wondered, leaning against my desk.

"Hm...well..." I thought.

Steve and I are going to go out for some coffee in the morning. Not a date. I repeat. Not a date. After running into each other countless times during our morning runs, we finally exchanged our contact information with each other. He was very confused at the phone that he recently bought, and I offered to help him set it up on Saturday at a café.

"Actually I am," I remembered. "Why, what's up?"

She frowned. "Oh, well, I wanted you to come along with me. There's someone I want you to meet."

"Uh...is this a blind date or what?" I laughed.

Whitney shook her head, chuckling. "No, you silly, but this person requested to meet you."

I raised one of my eyebrows. "Person? Who is it?"

"Well, you gotta come with me and find out." She winked.

"Girl, you've got me curious. What time do you want me to come with you?"

"Well, I was thinking about the morning, but you did say you were busy..."

I nibbled on my bottom lip. I wasn't gonna turn down Steve's hang out like that. He's a really nice guy, who enjoys calling me 'ma'am' a lot.

"Yeah, sorry, I'm unavailable in the morning. Is noon okay?" I suggested.

She shrugged. "I really don't know. He's a busy man."

"How important is this 'busy man?' " I inquired.

"As important as the president of the United States."

Ugh. No, I can't.

"You're gonna lose this opportunity~" she sang. "He's pretty famous. A pretty famous dude who wants to meet you~"

But that is such an honor!

I bit my lip at the tempting offer.

Dang...Ugh, I can't believe I'm doing this.

"Okay, fine, fine, fine," I finally surrendered. "Um, let me text someone about it first."

Her face brightened. "I'll be at your apartment tomorrow at eight then!" Nodding, she left my classroom.

Am I really gonna do this?

The guilt within me started growing. After jogging with Steve, as well as attempting to beat him, we grew closer, and I began to actually like him. Not like that. As a friend. He's a genuine, kind person, and I didn't want to disappoint him. Although I didn't know much about him, I don't want him to feel betrayed.
