Wooden Bench

a warm wooden bench
sits silently in a park
where strangers come and rest their legs
and go on to play, play, play.

a warm wooden bench
was installed two days ago
with chewed gum stuck
underneath herself.

a warm wooden bench
is no longer warm
as the sun fades away
and dark clouds gather all day,
pouring down buckets of rain.

a warm wooden bench
warms up a little child
who plays in shorts
in the chilly spring air.

a worn wooden bench
minds it's own business
as people write words
of hate
all across her.

a worn wooden bench
creaks when an older lady
sits down to knit and sip.

a worn wooden bench
cherishes when no one
abuses her.

an old wooden bench
is becoming withered of age
over the last two years,
even from Hell's
worse destruction.

an old wooden bench
becomes unstable
and wobbles when
someone sits on one side
rather than in the middle.

a new metal bench
was installed in the park,
and the warm wooden bench
was taken away.
