Eleanor

"Are you sure about this?" Xavier asked again as he watched me attempt to tame my unruly hair. I gazed into the cracked mirror of the bathroom. This would work.

"Eleanor this is madness you can't do this. There's no way this would work. I know you want them to pay for how they are using Rose but this...this won't work," He tries to reason with me but I've already made my mind up.

"Just look after Kai until I get back," I turn to answer Xavier his worried eyes scan my face still sunken and distraught but I don't let it affect my decision.

"I will be fine.," he gives me a questioning look. I sigh, "Xavier this is the only way we will be able to find out what they are planning and it will lead us to the Queen and King too. The new leaders, whatever their calling themselves, are looking for them as well as you. No one knows my connection with you it will be completely inconspicuous if I turn up to their clan meeting and tell them my story. I'll tell them how the Queen threatened me but they won't know I know you or Rose it will be absolutely fine."

"Eleanor..." he trails off unable to meet my stare for a moment before looking up once more, "What if you get caught we don't know what they'll do to you. I can already tell they will be merciless. You can't risk this-"

"Then what can I do!" I snapped the frustration overflowing. He seemed shocked at my tone but covers it quickly. "Xavier you can't go out there they'll kill you on sight. No one knows me and I can't just let things continue how they are. Not after everything that has happened. We need to find the Queen she's the only one with the antidote and she's the only way we can save Rose...I can't watch her die...Xavier I can't,"

I stifle the sob that is clawing its way up my throat. Xavier's face drains of all colour at the mention of Rose's death. He presses his lips into a thin line, "OK. But please Eleanor stay safe. I can't...I can't loose anyone else,"

"I will," I respond before walking out the door into the cool night air.

-

It doesn't take me long to get to the rendezvous point that was announced. They wanted to increase their numbers. I think it was a very stupid idea to say the least announcing it publicly would just draw the attention of other groups that wanted to gain power themselves.

It was eerie how quiet it was as I walked through the broken streets. Glass sprinkled across the pavements sparkling in the moonlight. There were still billows of smoke making their way out of burnt shops, curling up into the blackened sky.

I wrapped my arms around myself as I felt the chill of the cold air rush through my spine. Where was everyone?

I glanced around at the empty streets the calm so alien to me after the past few months where chaos reigned. It's unnerving not seeing anyone like I'm walking through a ghost town.
A town filled with the ghosts of people who's souls have been ripped apart by corruption.

"Where is every-" I didn't get the words out of my  mouth was covered by a smooth hand. My eyes widened for a moment until my survival instincts kicked in. I promised I would be fine and I would do just that.

I was pulled back roughly but before anything more could happen I swung my arm backwards to hit my attacker hearing a soft groan. I used the moment of surprise to pry the fingers from my mouth and shove the attacker backwards as forcefully as I could pinning them against a near by wall.

I glared into the eyes of the person that had tried to capture me fury laced in my own green eyes as I analysed the lean boy that stood in front of me a grin plastered across his face.

"Well, aren't you a fighter?" he asked amusement dancing in his pale grey eyes.

"What were you trying to do?" I hissed ignoring his previous comment completely. I tilted my head to the side to get a better look at his face in the dim lighting of the street.

He chucked, "I wasn't doing anything. Just wanted to see if you were worth our time,"

Confused didn't even begin to describe how I was feeling. I didn't show it though, "What do you mean 'our'?"

My hands still pressed him against the wall to prevent his escape though I was sure if he tried to he would be able to get out of my grasp. Something was off.

He laughed mockingly, "The reason why you're here. For the meeting? You didn't think we would be stupid enough to announce the real location, did you?"

I scowled because of how much I underestimated this new group of power hungry people, "That still doesn't answer my question of  what were you doing. Grabbing me from behind trying to silence my voice who do you think you are?"

"Oh darling I'm the son of the new King and this is my kingdom I can do whatever the hell I want,"

My anger increased, "Then you're dumber than I thought. Building a new monarchy onto of one that has just broken will never work. You're just asking for another revolution to happen if you let power get to your mind and go waltzing around claiming your the new prince," I seethed. My eyes still trained on his smug expression like he had everything figured out.

"Oh but I'm not going to do that. That secret's just between you and I. No matter the name you give to a leader whether it be king, prime minister or president they all mean the same thing. I won't call myself a prince not in front of everyone just you princess,"

The intensity of my glare increased, "Don't call me that. Whoever you are you are wrong. There is a difference Prime minsters and Presidents are elected chosen by the will of the people while Royals aren't chosen just a product of warfare or blood lines. Tyrants."

"Tyrants huh?" I hated the patronising tone of his voice. I decided to play into the character that I had formulated in my mind.

"I didn't come here to listen to some new leaders who are just going to be the same as the previous ones. I am here for revenge. They hurt me and threatened me and I will not stop until all remnants of their reign is undone."

He seems intrigued slightly leaning forward but he doesn't attempt to release himself, I continue, "I was promised leaders who want to help those who were wronged by the old one. Leaders who will rebuild a better society who at it's core has the values of human decency. Where we are not judged based purely on looks where we have free will. Not being puppeteer-ed by the likes of you who think they own the world because of a title that is nothing more than a label they give themselves to  inflate their ego,"

I scoffed at him and he just grinned in return, "You're smart. You're perfect for our cause."

I shook my head, "You keep referring to this 'our' but I don't see anyone else,"

His infectious smirk just widened as he leaned forward more whispering in my ear, "Right behind you, princess,"

I spun around and sure enough I was met by five more shadowy figures.

Note to reader:

Soooo...It's purposeful that  Eleanor and this new elusive character meet in similar but not exactly the same as Rose and Xavier. Call me unoriginal but this is to develop Eleanor's character a bit because her reaction is different to Rose's to show the contrast in their separate characters.

Any who I won't bore you with anymore of  my reasoning I hope you enjoy this chapter even though nothing much happens. I'm still trying to get back into the creative flow.

Than you to everyone who's stuck around this long to even read this I really appreciate it.

Have a lovely day!
