Stand Down

Everyone leaves the room and Jess turns her phone on, waiting for it to go through the process of powering on, she hums. "So you're my love, yeah my love.. That's what I like." Jess whisper sings. When the logo flashes on the screen, Jess lets out a shaky breath as she hits call on king Jung's name and presses the phone to her ear.

King Jung's voice can be heard from the other side. "It's me my king." Jess whispers, almost inaudible. Jess listens, the king's voice is loud, the maid pulls the phone away from her ear a few times, just listening, with a new batch of tears ready to fall from her eyes.

"I understand. I'll see you soon then your highness." Jess whispers, biting her lip, trying to hide the fact that she's crying. A few more words are said from the king, Jess just listens again, then the phone beeps. The call ends and Jess lets out a cry she was holding back as she throws herself back against her pillow. Taehyung and Jungkook peek into the room, Jess has her hands covering her face as she sobs uncontrollably. "What happened? Hey Jess. Are you okay? What did king Jung say?" Jin asks, worriedly rushing to Jess' side.

Namjoon walks into the room and stops. Jess tried to stop crying, but it's no use. Yoongi looks back at Namjoon, the eldest prince is frozen in the doorway, with his eyes widened eyes. "Joonie hyung?" Jin asks looking up from Jess' shaking body. Jess looks up, making eye contact with Namjoon. Everyone is quiet while it looks like the eldest prince and maid are having an argument, tears still spilling from Jess' red, puffy eyes.

Jess looks angry, she's always had a 'resting bitch face' her words, but right now? She looks like she's ready to strangle Namjoon. "Do as you were told by your king." Namjoon finally says in a deep, angry tone. Jess clenches her jaw. "High general Jessica Fields. You are hereby commanded by the eldest prince of the dominion royals to stand down." Namjoon says, in a clear, calm voice before he leaves the room in a huff. Jess sits there with widened eyes, her tears hadn't stopped, but now the maid has no emotion painted on her face as she just stares at the doorway.

Yoongi runs out of the room after Namjoon and the others all stay quiet, Jin carefully side hugs Jess, letting the maid cry against his shoulder. "Jess. Is everything okay? Did king Jung tell you anything we need to know about getting Hobi hyung back?" Jin asks. Taehyung and Jungkook both sit on the small sofa in the room. "Would you please just ask the physician or a nurse to come and see if I'm able to leave. I need to return to the Northern kingdom as soon as possible." Jess says through her tears.

Taehyung nods and leaves the room. "While we wait for someone, I have some pictures of some of the royals that attended the event the other day. Do you think you can look at them and tell me if you recognize anyone? Then maybe you should try and get some rest." Jungkook says with a sad smile. Jess nods, taking a tissue offered by Jin before opening the book with the list and pictures of guests.
