A week later

Al asked me to be his girlfriend the day after our date, so know we're a thing I guess. I pull on my black skinny jeans and I throw on a black sweater. I pull my hair up in a messy bun and I slip on my vans. I to my makeup the same as any other day, then I'm out the door.

When I get to school, I meet up with the group and Al wraps his arms around me, sending a shiner up my spine, like I've seen a ghost. “Hello Tris,” he says then kisses my cheek.

F“Hello Al,” I as with a forced smile.

“What's wrong?”

“Nothing, I'm tired, that's all,” then I look away.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I'm sure.”

“Okay.”

After school I meet up with Christina. We're going to meet Marlene at the mall to get Homecoming dresses. I really don't want to go, but Al wanted to, so I had no choice.

When we get to the mall we go to the dress shop and pick up dresses. My dress is a long, strapless black dress. Christina got a short black dress with a puffy shirt. Marlene got a short black dress as well and has a sparkly tool skirt.

When I get home I put my dress in my closet and I lay face first on mg bed, then I look through my window, seeing Tobias's room. His desk is still full of our pictures together. I small smile creeps on my face, I know I don't love Al, I've known it all along. I just wanted to do it for Tobias.

Two nights later

It's homecoming night. I curl my hair in loose ringlets just like my first date with Al. I put on foundation, blush, bronzer, powder, a smokey-eye eye-shadow, eyeliner, mascara and a soft pink lips.

I slip on some black heels and my dress, and may I say, I look stunning! I feel gorgeous, noticeable.

When I'm done getting ready, I hear a knock on my door. I race downstairs, and when I open the door, I expect to see Al, but I see someone else, someone I'm happy to see. Tobias.

“Wha-what are you doing here Tobias?”

“I just wanted to ask if you and Al are a thing now, and by that dress I'm guessing you guys are,” but he trails off.

“Yeah I guess we are,” I say, almost sad about it. I walk over to the couch, Tobias still in the doorway. He walks over to me, not shutting the door.

“What's wrong?”

“Nothing,” is all I tell him.

He presses his fingers under my chin, his thumb sweeping my cheek.

“There's obviously something wrong, you can tell me.”

I look around the room, then back to his eyes.

“I don't like Al, I don't feel anything with him.”

“Then why are you dating him?”

“I'm doing it for you.

His eyes wander around my face, then they make their way back to my eyes.

He leans over and starts to kiss me, and I kiss back.

We're in a full makeout session until I hear someone clear their throat. I look up to see Al. “Al,” I scream but it's too late, he's already gone.
