This involves a story idea about the gods that exist in mythology, religion, lore, etc.
About how they want to claim the universe as their own so they make up their own origin stories about how they created the universe so they could tell whatever intelligent life that origin story.
Of course, the gods themselves don't know how they came into being or what existed before them or how the universe was actually created.
Mostly because they had a form of amnesia known as Godly Amnesia. Which is amnesia exclusive experienced by godly beings/deities.
