This is a story idea about purgatory and the afterlife.
Purgatory is basically a waiting area while you wait until you go into the afterlife similar to the waiting room of a hospital or doctor's office.
In this story idea, every religion and mythology got the afterlife wrong.
The afterlife is as big as the universe (not just the observable universe but the entire universe) and purgatory is about half the size.
Everyone who dies in the universe goes there no matter what you did or who you are and its inhabitants are the inhabitants of the universe.
The afterlife is filled with extinct animals, stillborn babies, dead pets and it has good and bad people such as Gandhi and Hitler. Every person who dies goes to this afterlife no matter what you did in your life when you were alive.
You could wipe out half the life of the universe such as Thanos did and you would go there.
Depending on how old you were when you died you will still grow up in what your natural age cycle was like on your home planet. So if a stillborn baby on Earth died in 20 years there would be an adult.
