“Babe?” Eric questioned, snapping Audrey out of her reverie. They were cuddled up on the couch at Eric’s house, in the living room, tangled up in the comforter that Eric laid out for them. No one else was at home, Eric’s parents and siblings were out so the couple had the house to themselves.

They were chest to chest, legs tangled, Eric’s arms protectively around her; it was like they fit each other perfectly. Audrey’s thin and lithe figure a complete contrast to Eric’s muscular, defined one. She felt so protected, cooped up in his arms in that way, that she smiled to herself a little, completely content and happy to be where she is right this moment. Audrey was rubbing off the sleep in her eyes, and she let out a small yawn. “Still sleepy babe? We could move to my room, if you want, so it’s a little more comfy,” Eric said as he traced circles on Audrey’s hip. “No, it’s okay, the nap was enough and plus, even if we moved to your bed, we would still end up cuddled up and in the same position, like we always do” she smirked and she kissed Eric’s chin.

Eric is her first love and she is his. It was the kind of love that only happens once – that pure, almost a little too naïve, we-can-conquer-the-world, this-is-forever-and-ever, type of thing. Eric only ever felt comfortable being affectionate towards her. He wasn’t as affectionate towards his parents, or his friends who he always kept at a distance. He just felt like he couldn’t connect with them, but what he has with Audrey is so different. She was the first one to patiently coax him into sharing a little, then a little bit more, now to the point that not only was she his girlfriend but also his best friend. He felt so comfortable sharing everything about him – the good and the bad because he knows that she won’t leave him and she loves him regardless. She accepts him for exactly who he is, as he is changing through the years, as parts of him stay the same – she si there for it all.

“Have I told you today that I love you so much?” Eric whispered, his voice deep and gravelly, signs of sleep still apparent in it. Audrey rubbed her nose against his Adam’s apple “Yes, a few times, but feel free to say it again and again and twice more after that”

Eric could feel her lips curving up to a smile against his skin, which made him smile as well.

In the privacy of Eric’s home, he could be how he wanted, to be as cheesy with Audrey; he liked it a lot. He liked the freedom and the calmness he felt when he was with Audrey. Everything about her was contrasting and he loved that so much. She was lithe and gentle but she can defend herself and easily kick someone's ass. She was sassy, but also very kind hearted. She's fiercely loyal, but she can make him jealous within seconds, just to put him in his place if she feels like she's been neglecting him a little. She is strong and brave. She just completes him, like a puzzle. She can bring out the very best in him – the caring, romantic, thoughtful him that really only consistently comes out for her. But she can also bring out the worst in him – the jealous, hot-temepered side. But more than anything she can calm him down and bring him peace. It’s not like everyone else out there, who seemed to piss him off at two-second intervals.

“Well then Miss Audrey, I love you so much. From the tip of your adorable nose to the tips of your toes” he said, hugging her tightly. Audrey sighed and melted into his arms, their legs tangled, their bodies erasing all space between them. She thought, nothing could be more perfect than this. She felt like this is what all those books from the old times meant – to be in love and to be loved is the very best thing that can happen to a human being. She felt so loved in this moment and she was sure that Eric could feel the same.

The test had been so exhausting that she had moved in a daze, her thoughts were over run by the test and the result. She was just in a zombie-like state even as she got onto the train. She thought about the test and what happened after and it was almost like she was exhausted all over again.
