Chapter Twenty-one

Taehyung pov

I woke up with an extremely bad headache. What was I doing yesterday? I look around to see that I was not in my respectful chambers. I slowly stand up holding my head tightly. I go into the hall hoping to see maids or servants scrambling by. I wasn't met with maids or servants, but with an empty hallway. I continued to walk towards what I thought was a study. I tried to open the door, but the door was locked and the lock was on the other side of the door. I quickly exit the place since I knew if I stayed any longer I would end up getting lost in my curiosity. 

I feel like there where eyes watching me when I take a step. I turned around and saw something written on the thin paper door I wanted to open. I went back to the door and the words frightened me. I writing said: Run while you can, sooner or later I will catch you in your sleep. The writing was done in a thick red substance. I was about to turn around and was about to run for it, but another set of writing appeared on the wall. I read it and sprinted to the door almost tripping on my garments. 

The writing kept haunting my thoughts as I exited the place. When I blow the Piri your most loved one will disappear. I ran to my mother chambers at the side palace of my father's chambers. I ran but time passes so slowly at that moment.  I felt a hand grab my mouth and clicking noises erupted from behind me. I turn around hoping no one was there. I was relieved that there was no one behind me, but the things I ng that scared me the most was time. When I arrived I saw my mother pale almost lifeless. I quickly rush to her side holding onto her hand.

"My good son, I have one unfulfilled wish that I want you to fulfill in my name before I pass," Noble Consort said. 

"Mother your not going to pass you can overcome this period of illness, I whisper not wanting my voice to startle her.

"No, I know I am not going to make it. I want you to become king for me, I want you to remove Concubine Min from her post," Noble Consort said in a barely audible voice.

"Mom I promise you just don't give up until your last breath," I said big, fat, salty droplets of water rushing drown on my face. Just then The Piri  sounded. I held my mother's hand tightly and it was like everything stopped functioning and all was silent my mother's hand slipped from my grasp. I erupted a loud scream and gripped my hair. Red puffy eyes replaced my clear brown eyes. I held onto her hand lightly shaking her. "Mother, wake up you can't go now you still have to become Imperial Queen Dowager. I said as I shook her. Some unfamiliar eunuchs held me back as the servants took her body. 

I don't know why I ran to Olive Courtyard hoping to find refuge in my little brother who I neglected for so long when I was the one who pushed him away. I arrived after dragging my feet to the courtyard. The courtyard was decorated with beautiful flowers which already made me feel better. I enter the place hoping I wasn't disturbing anyone. I was stopped by Yugyeom holding onto my wrist. 

"Yugyeom let me in please," I pleaded as I only want to see Jungkook smile at me which will make my day brighter. Strange how the person you didn't even acknowledge a couple of years ago is the one you find refuge in.

"I'm sorry your highness I really can't. It was the Prince's ord...," Yugyeom was interrupted by a loud whimper. Yugyeom opened the door and let me in while he went to get a physician. I analyzed the situation and slowly approach the source of the noise.

I was baffled to see what happened Sehun was playing with Jungkook while Jungkook was laughing which included a few whimpers.  While watching this I felt a pang in my heart was it jealousy? That can't be it must be the sorrow or grief that engulfed me. I was taken out of my feelings when Jungkook let out a small ow. I rush to his side and looked at his arm. There were small cuts on his arms that looked fresh but were clotted. I look at his wrist and there was what seemed like a reopened wound. I look up to see Jungkook staring at me with a confused expression. "Where did you get the cuts," I said sternly.

"It was always there," Jungkook said nervously pulling away from my grasp. 

"You're lying, The last time I visited your hand wasn't littered in cuts and bruises. Did you cut yourself, Jungkook?" I said looking right into his eyes.

"No, it was just there," Jungkook slightly raised his voice. It was clear that he was scared and had a look that was a mix of guiltiness and nervousness.

"Jungkookie are you okay," A frantic Seokjin said as he rushed in with physicians and a stone face Yugyeom.

Seokjin eyed me up and down. "Taehyung what are you doing here? I thought you were with the servants preparing for Noble Consorts funeral," Seokjin said with a softened expression. 

Jungkook looked at me with his big does eyes and gave me a big bear hug. I wasn't sad that my mom wasn't here. Sure, I was in shock for a moment and still, mourning that's how I ended up here, but my Mother is now in a better place after suffering for one lifetime. I felt tears rolling down my cheeks not sad tears, but tears of relief.

What I am now most worried about is am I going to hurt my family if I aim to be king. I slowly wrap my hand around Jungkook shoulders and cry into his shoulders. It was so comforting knowing you have family around you. I break the hug and stand up. "Jungkook I am going to take care of the funeral preparations you let the physician treat you okay," I said as I ruffle his hair and turn to Sehun "Sehun I want to talk to you," I said as I turn to walk in the hall. 

"Your Highness," Sehun said as he stood in front of me.

"Take care of Jungkook. I think he is cutting and It's not healthy for a prince," I said and turned my back on Sehun and walk away.

I decided to give an early update since I have nothing to do but....

I had a very weird dream yesterday, I dreamt of the spring day mv but the twist was that Doyoung from NCT was RM and then somehow it transitions to Twice's Fancy but Momo was replaced by Blackpink's Lisa. After a while it got really weird cause it turned in to EXO's, Kai, NCT's WinWin and Ateez San suddenly joined Produce X 101 and got into the top twenty. I think I have some problems and I need a break from watching K-groups being weird.
