Chara and I made it to the surface in a good time, under 2 hours. I was... Amazed to say the least. It was so bright and sunny compared to the Underground. Everything was clear and fresh. I took a deep breath. It was early morning and the crisp, cold, dewy, morning air burned my nostrils. If I had to guess I'd say it was around 5:30 AM. Obviously, it was chilly, buy comforting. The darkness and silence were just comforting.

"It's so pretty up here, isn't it?" I told Chara. They nodded and took a deep breath as well.

"Can't believe people just live here, you know?" Chara responded in a tone of astonishment. I agreed in my mind and looked around. In the distance there was a village, probably Frisk's. It looked lovely, small but very bright and homey.

Chara and I began walking down to the village, each step sinking into the damp soil of the mountain. The only sound were those twigs snapping and birds chirping. There was a perfect path to the small town from where we stood.

I didn't even want to speak to Chara, instead, I wanted to take in the scenery while I still could. It wouldn't be the same after everyone was gone. In the meantime, I thought of what to do. How to kill those I would kill, what to do with the surplus of bodies we'd have near the end of this mission. I'd find out later.

We reached the village in a good time, it was just sunrise. The sky had become a warm orange and pink color, the tone reaching the grass and dyeing it orange as well. It didn't take long for people to begin exiting their homes to start another days work. Shops opened up, crops were being tended to, and the children were already out to play.

Chara and I ignored all that we could, including the curious looks that were shot out way. We looked around for a while before I decided we should look for an inn. I told Chara this idea and they agreed.

As we began to look, we we're stopped by a young child, no older than 6. She timidly approached me, holding a hand stitched doll in her small hands. She had long, flowing black hair that was only an inch from the ground and had a pink flower just above her ear and emerald green eyes that shone in the morning light. She wore a dress that went just passed her knees, it had light green and white stripes. She was quite beautiful, for a child. Shyly, she pulled on my shirt to get my attention.

"Um, excuse me miss...? Are you new here?" Her voice was barely audible, and she was obviously forcing it to be as loud as it was. Chara looked back and motioned for me to ignore her and continue. I looked back to the child and looked between the two of them. Against my better judgement I knelt down to her level and forced a smile.

"Yes we are. I'm Y/n and that over there is my friend Chara. What's your name?" The little girl smiled back at me.

"I'm Lily, that's my house over there." She motioned to a small wooden house that was down the dirt road. It looked nice enough, small and probably really cozy.

"It looks nice. Do you live with your family?" Lily nodded.

"Mhm! I have a brother and my mummy! Daddy's out at war though..."

"War huh? Do you miss him?"

"Yeah... But mummy says he'll be back soon!"

"That's sweet."

"Would you like to meet my mummy?" I was taken aback. Lily seemed to be a sweet young lady, but what was her mom like? It seemed like Lily really wanted me to go though, she was staring at me with big, pleading, green eyes. I couldn't say no.

"Sure."

"Yay! Come on, Y/n, she'll love you!" I shook my head. Too bad all of humanity wasn't as sweet and innocent as this girl, I would spare them.

I stole a glance at Chara, who seemed to be fuming at this point. For a moment I wanted to motion them over to join me, but decided against it. They would only yell and that's the last thing I wanted. They turned around and kept walking, acting as if I was right behind them. I sighed and turned back around as well.

"Mummy! This is my new friend Y/n!" Lily's mother smiled and told her to go play with her brother. She did as she was told and left us alone. I smiled at her mother. She had short black hair and blue eyes with a red flower in her hair, she also had a torn dress on.

"Hello, I am Mala." I shook her hand.

"Y/n." I acted nice. Mala smiled at me.

"You're new." I nodded. "Would you like to have breakfast with me and my family?" I thought it over for a minute. Chara would be even more mad if I didn't catch up with them. But, at the same time, I was pretty hungry.

"No, thank you. I actually should find my friend I'm here with."

"Okay, have a nice day."

"Thank you, Mala." I walked over to Lily and her brother.

"I need to go, Lily." The litter girl frowned but understood.

"Okay, bye Y/n!" She waved with her small hands. "Oh! Wait!" She called out as I began to walk away. "Here, have this!" She handed me her doll she had been carrying with her. "It's a gift." I smiled and took it from her.

"Thanks." She nodded before running off to her brother again. I held the doll closely as I began my endless hunt for my best friend.
