×Your POV×
It took me 0.253 seconds to begin wondering why I did what I did earlier. Kissing Chara's cheek and cuddling with them. Why? I didn't even think! I was just so comfortable with them. They're my best friend, right? That's it... Right?
I waved off the incident as me being tired and snuck a glance at Chara. They were staring ahead with an intense gaze, watching the sun climb higher into the sky. It was peeking above a hill, panting the grass orange and pink. It was admittedly very pretty, overtaking the air with that fresh morning scent.
"It's a nice morning, right?" I asked. Chara kept looking off into the distance. I looked down, not expecting an answer now.
"Yeah. It's cool." They surprised me with a reply. I shook myself out of my surprised state and smiled at them warmly, noticing as they glanced at me and blushed brightly.
"Are you feeling okay, Chara?" My quiet voice struck through the air again. Chara hesitated but smiled at me, nodding. They were lying. Their eyes refused to meet mine, even though they glanced at my face. I shrugged it off as best I could, which wasn't easy since Chara never lied. Ever.
We continued to walk until the sun was high in the sky, and until my stomach started to ache slightly. I covered it with my arm and held it tightly, trying to muffle as it roared loudly. Chara looked at me with a raised eyebrow, smirking as I sheepishly smiled back. They chuckled and released my hand, telling me to wait on the side of the road. With a sigh and an obedient nod I sat with my legs crossed on the ground.
"I'll be back." Chara promised, and ruffled my hair. I laughed and relaxed, thankful for their caring nature. They walked away and I noticed them turn their head to look at me again, and their cheeks bend. I could only assume they were smiling.
×Chara's POV×
Determined to not disappoint Y/n, I went out into the field-like area to find her something to eat. Looking back, we should've eaten before leaving town. I guess we just didn't think about the walk.
After only a few minutes of a silent walk I found a bunny. While it was cute and probably fluffy, I knew this would probably be the only meal I could get Y/n at the moment. With a sharp but quiet breath I reached for my knife and held it carefully, pulling my arm back slowly. With another shallow breath, careful not to allow the rabbit to notice my presence, I flung the knife forward, hitting the animal in the head. It fell to the ground with a slight squeal before silence surrounded me yet again. A triumphant smile danced across my lips as I walked forward and took my now dead prey. And yes, it was just as fluffy as it looked.
Without remorse I skinned and gutted the small animal, wiping the crimson blood from the edge of my knife when I was done. I carried the animal back to Y/n, whose eyes lit up upon seeing the dead rabbit. She smiled at me, licking her lips. With a quiet laugh I handed the corpse to Y/n and picked some wheat from the surrounding field.
"Do you have anything to start a fire with?" I asked Y/n. She mumbled a small "um" before patting herself down. Within a moment of looking she pulled out a match box. She opened it to reveal a few left over matches in it. I smiled as she lit one and placed it on the small pile of wheat. I blew on it gently until it grew and placed more onto the pile. After a bit I started to cook the meat and after a bit more time, it was done.
Y/n's smile widened as she eagerly took the meal, burning her hands in the process. I laughed as she dropped it again, rubbing her hands together. She picked it up off the ground and wiped it off, taking a bite.
"This is amazing!" She said with a full mouth, which made me roll my eyes and chuckle. Y/n giggled too, swallowing the rest of her food and smiling happily.
×Your POV×
The sun was high in the sky now, and shining down on us bright, warm rays. Too warm, actually. Goddamn was the wether never just perfect around here? This morning we were freezing our asses off and now we're going to overheat, what is this bullshit?
Chara groaned loudly beside me, and I heard a loud clank of metal hitting the ground. I turned to see Chara taking off their sweater. They threw it over their shoulder and picked up the knife again.
"Hot?" I asked. Chara groaned again and fanned their self.
"Yeeeessss!" I giggled even though I felt their pain. They shot me a glare before throwing their sweater at me. I laughed and wrapped it around my waist.
"How do I look?" I posed jokingly. Chara chuckled at waved me off.
"Like a queen. Let's keep going your highness." Chara fake bowed, "royalty first."
"Age before beauty." I replied. Chara gasped and huffed.
"You're just jealous because I'm a year older than you."
"A year and a lifetime."
"You don't age as a ghost!" Our fake argument continued as we walked on. Chara eventually stopped talking to me, making me pout.
"Fine! You win." Chara turned over to me and smiled before patting my head. Their smile twisted into a cocky grin.
"I know." They said with a laugh.
