When I awoke from my bloody thirsty murder spree it was sunrise, and I was standing in front of Mala's house. My arm was in terrible pain, and blood was pouring from multiple open wounds. Mala was standing in her doorway, glaring at me. I had a smile etched into my face, my knife was again brandished in the air, and a chuckled was coming from me.
"You know, I've killed before." She told me, holding onto her dress. "I did to save myself in the Underground. To leave that hell hole. But I only killed one person. How many have you killed? Hundreds? Thousands, even?" I laughed.
"Oh? So you're not perfect? Than why does she think you are?" I pointed to Lily, who was standing behind her mother. Mala gasped and shooed the child away, but she didn't listen.
"Mommy? Is it true you've killed people before?" Mala had a pained expression.
"Well... I-I had to..." Lily took a step backwards.
"But... You're better than her," she pointed to me. I tisked and mumbled, "rude," beneath my breath. "Right?" Mala nodded.
"Of course I am! That's a murderer!" I mumbled the word again, "I'm not!"
"I've grown tired of your pointless arguing. Mala, just get out here. Let me kill you." Mala pushed her little girl inside.
"Hurt them," she twitched her head bear her house, where her terrified children were, "and I'll kill you." She told me. I laughed.
"You are a murderer, aren't you?" She narrowed her eyes again. "Tell you what. I'll let you live." Confusion was prominent on her face now.
"What?"
"I'll let you live. And I'll spare your husband when I find him. But remember that I'm doing it because I know you're just as insane as me. Can you live with that," I took a step closer to her until I was in her face, smirking sadistically at her, "Mala?" She thought it over if just for a second.
"Yes, I can live with that." I stepped back.
"Tell Lily I said goodbye, will you?" The child in question ran out of the door, hitting her mother with it. She ran up to me and hugged me.
"Don't leave!" She begged. "Don't leave me! Let me come with you!" I squatted down to meet her gaze.
"Nah. I'm a killer, haven't you realized that?" Lily nodded.
"But... You're my best friend! And I want to you to stay here... Please?" I laughed again.
"I can't. But maybe I'll visit." Lily cried a bit.
"But- I-I'll even kill with you! They're just strangers, right? I can do that! I hate humanity anyway. I hate this whole world! Let me destroy it with you!" I look of pure blood-lust filled her eyes.
"Tell you what." I handed her the knife. "Use this when you miss me. Stay alive for a while, I'll see you soon." I promised. She hugged me one last time and ran away to her house again. I waved and she waved back as I walked away, a headache pounding I my ears.
"Why'd you spare 'em?" Chara asked, running to my side. I shrugged in response, not offering them a glance.
"I don't know. Didn't want to kill the kid unless I was blacked out." Chara nodded.
"Whatever you say. Hopefully we don't regret it." I hummed in reply. I mean, they were right, if this bites us in the ass I'm to blame. But... I guess it did make me feel happier, thinking that Lily was alive and had my knife. Hopefully she'll take good care of it.
We walked along the dark, cold road, waiting to find civilization. The day passed by and we were still in the cold, which wasn't surprising. Not even a car passed us, which was surprising. Did anyone even know where this place was? Apparently not.
As luck would have it, the sunset seemed dragged on. I remember, faintly, the sunsets in my home town. They were just like this. The sun would slowly drop in the sky until it was a sliver in the horizon. Then it came to a stand still. It would linger in the sky for maybe half an hour. And, just as we thought it would never finally go down, it would slip away, leaving us in the silence of night. It's not a good memory I have, but I vaguely recall it.
Just as I expected the sun came to a halt over Mt. Ebott. Its light drew long shadows on the ground, surrounded by a light pink and orange color. It was, admittedly, a very beautiful seen, with the light colors and textures.
But I've seen it all before. The light was just light. And there were just shadows on the ground. The colors were normal, and blinding. And this seen in front of me had been seen a million time, and would be seen a million more times. There was no reason to be in awe, this was just a sunset, like a million other sunsets, and I had no need of it.
The sun finally slipped away, just as I knew it would, and left us in the night. My eyes began to shut every now and then, and I started to wonder if I had slept in the past couple days. I don't think blacking out in my own insanity counts as sleep...
"Chara, I need sleep." They sighed and nodded, pulling out a blanket from their backpack... Thing. I laid down on it and closed my eyes. "Tha... Nks." I mumbled and fell asleep almost instantly. I heard Chara chuckle before I drifted off.
"Night, Y/n." They told me and pushed my hair out of my face.
