×Chara's POV×

Admittedly the screams we're deafening. They echoed throughout my soul, rattling me to my very core. My name was cought somewhere in the middle of their cries. I felt feelings well in my chest, making my heart beat fast and my lungs combust. Again, I heard my name being screamed out, mixed into endless other voices and wails.

"Run!" The word cought my attention. I snapped my eyes to the source, seeing her laying amongst the rubble. Her hand was outstretched toward me. Coughs erupted from ger throat as smoke enveloped her lungs. I opened my mouth to shout for her, but was silenced. "Please! Just go! You must leave this place." I felt what was probably sweat run down my face.

"I can't." I choked as the smoke hit my lungs harshly. She smiled weakly with whatever strength she could scrape up. "I won't!" I reached for her, only to have my hand smacked away.

"This isn't a suggestion!" The crackling sound and wood breaking and burning was heard in the distance. "Leave, now!" I shivered despite the heat that was engulfing me. She continued, but I found myself focused on a different sound. Sirens. She looked toward the sound and her eyes widened. "Leave!"

"NO!" I screamed back. A loud crack sounded overhead. I looked up to see a bright, burning piece of wood threatening to fall. She looked at it and back at me. I ran over, but it was too late. The board fell with a violent snap and her cries were cut short.

"MOM!!" I shrieked. I ran over and pressed my hands to the board and was met with a sharp pain and a yelp. Of course. It was in fire. The sirens grew closer and closer, until I could make out a command.

"Find the child!" The child? She told me to run. Did she mean from them? It clicked. They must be dangerous. She died telling me to run from them.

I stood up in panic. The voices grew closer by the second. It was hard to see through the tears, but no matter what I did they wouldn't stop. My heart and lungs were burning, like my childhood home before me. Without thinking I ran blindly. Bad idea. I bumped into a figure, with grunted amd grabbed my arm.

"What do we have here?" He asked, picking me up. Suddenly it felt like my arm was being broken as it supported my weight. The man's partner chuckled and grabbed my chin roughly, turning my face toward him.

"I think boss is looking for it." 'It'? Excuse me? I opened my mouth to protest to being called an object, only to be hushed. "Shut up." He growled and spat in my face. I used my free hand to clean it off, growling back. "Feisty little bitch, aren't you?"

"That's enough. I'll be taking her to the captain now." The man holding me insisted, allowing my feet to touch the ground again. Before I could be happy about standing on solid ground again the man pulled me forward, making me stumble. I fought back, only to be yanked up again. "Stop fighting. You won't win." He snarled.

He tossed me on to the ground before another man I didn't recognize. He bent down and grabbed my chin, smiling as he studied my face. I growled lowly, making him chuckle and grab my shoulder, pulling me up and to his side.

"Very nice. I'll be sure to put in a good word as a thanks for finding my..." His grip tightened on me. I struggle under it, to no avail, of course. "Pet." He laughed evilly and threw me inside of hus car. You bet your ass the whole time I was in there I was clawing at the locked door. There was no way to unlock them from the inside, like a cop car situation. The man said a few more words before climbing into the front seat of the car. He adjusted the rear view mirror so I could see his face as he smirked at me.

"What do you want from me?"

"What don't I want is a much shorter list." He replied matter-of-factly. "I'd say I want nearly everything from you. But I need your mind."

"My mind? I'm losing that by just sitting close to you." He laughed. It sent shivers down my spine and made the hair on my neck and arms straighten.

"You'll lose that attitude soon enough."

"Keep dreaming, asshole."

"Now now, your mother wouldn't appreciate that language, would she?" I bit my lip to keep myself from a snappy reply. "It's a shame a women like that had to die in such a meaningless way. Keeping you from me."

"Fuck you. I don't know what you want from me, but I don't like it. I don't fucking like you." You'd think he had heard the funniest joke of his life with all the laughing he was doing.

"You'll see, child."

"Oh, and tell your goons to not call me an it."

"Oh, you're much more than just an it."

"Yeah. I know." I replied in a witty voice. He scowled in the mirror. "What, got some extra ugly in your eyes or something?"

"I'm already fed up with your attitude, Chara."

"You know my name?"

"Of course. You're precious."

"Creepo."

We arrived at a large building minutes later. It was probably... 5 stories high. Real Area 51 kind of vibes were radiating off the place. It had chain link fence 10 feet high with barbed wire curled over the top. The only entrance seemed to be a double wide door in the front. It was completely white, and was surrounded by Vans and fancy limos.

"Come on." The man opened the door and allowed me to hop out of the car. I had to admit, I wasn't so appreciative of getting to sit in the front on car rides until I had to sit in the back with this freak show staring me down. "This way." He led me through the gates and into the building. I didn't realize then and there that my life was about to become the most fucked up fairytale you've heard.
