Escape to safety

Talon's POV

I lifted the debris off ourselves and picked up Penny. The fumes from the fire got trapped inside our lungs and we coughed and spluttered. I carried Penny to a dry patch and placed her on my knees.

"Penny are you okay?"

"Yes, but how'd this happen?"

I couldn't tell Penny I did this, she'd kill me.

"No time to explain we have to get to safety."

I started to feel really tired and I fell to the ground and blacked out.

Penny's POV

"TALON!"

I held Talon up and dragged him over to a bench, he was a lot stronger than me. I stroked his hair and shed a small tear. 

"Don't you worry Talon...I'll take care of this."

I looked in the distance and saw the outline of what looked like my Uncle. He came running towards me making everything else seem unimportant.

"Oh Penny my darling niece, are you alright?"

He hugged me tightly and I hugged him back and sobbed into his chest. 

"Oh Uncle Gadget...I'm really sorry, I-I should've s-st-stayed with you."

I hugged Uncle Gadget, his warm touch made everything else less real. I loved Uncle Gadget so much. I was so relieved he was alright.

"Uncle Gadget we have to take Talon with us, please."

"Penny he is a mad agent we can't."

"Uncle Gadget I LOVE HIM!"

Talon's POV

Did  I just hear correctly? Did Penny just say she loved me? She really did care. I faintly saw her Uncle lift me in one arm and Penny in the other. I was scratched and was bleeding from my head. But I knew I was going to safety now.

"P-penny..."

"Talon, are you okay?"

"I am now."

She threw her arms around me and I hugged her back. Her warm embrace made me feel safe and happy. I didn't care where I was, as long as we were together.

"Hey Penny?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you really love me?"

"Y-yes."

I just remember blushing bright red and gazing at her ocean blue eyes. All I felt was guilt. I lied to Penny and I regretted it deeply.

Penny's POV

The journey home was very slow. I guess we were all still feeling shaken from the events of this evening. I felt Talon lay his head on my legs. The poor sweetie was exhausted. I lay myself down and our heads were just about touching.

"Hey penny?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

"I was never gonna leave you there Talon."

Talon's POV

We asked Gadget to drop us off at the park on the way back and we sat on the edge of the fountain. The night sky shone brightly before us and we felt our cold hands reach each other.

"Come on, lets dance in the moonlight."

"Just like in Paris."

I spun Penny round and we waltzed around the park grounds. I would never forget this night. Her eyes twinkled in the evening sky and we finished our dance with a dip. I had to tell her the truth though, this cloud of guilt just wouldn't leave me alone.

"Look Penny, there's something you should know."

"What is it?"

"I really wish this wasn't the case but... I caused this whole fire."

"You what?!"

"Its true, I only did this because my Uncle told me to do it."

"You almost had me KILLED!"

So that moment was ruined.
