The next day when you opened your eyes at the buttcrack of dawn to the sound of your phone's alarm going off like a toddler who skipped nap time, despite your sore back from having to sleep all smushed up on the stiff couch all night, you felt yourself in better spirits than the day before. Sure, yesterday didn't exactly go according to plan, but this wasn't some kind of fairy tale dream anyway. This was reality. You were there to work, nothing more. You decided as you heaved your achy back off the couch, that you weren't going to let Minji or her rotten egg attitude get the better of you. At the end of the day, Minji or no Minji, you were still exactly where you wanted to be just then: in a good paying job at a great company, surrounded by your idols. Everything else just wasn't important.

You checked the time on your phone. 5:30 A.M. The house was still dark and quiet, but you had a feeling that it wouldn't stay that way for long. There were currently nine people sharing this apartment, including you and Minji, and only three bathrooms between you. You took your chance while everyone else was still sound asleep to use the bathroom while you still could.

You did your business and showered quickly, not wanting to take too long in the bathroom, in case anyone else needed to get in there. You wrapped a towel around your wet body and realized with a jolt that you didn't bring a change of clothes into the bathroom with you. Your hair still dripping wet, you snuck your head out of the room, trying to listen to see if everyone was still asleep so you could venture out in just your towel for a change of clothes from your suitcase in the living room. You really didn't want to put back on the dirty clothes from yesterday. They had too many bad vibes clogging up the pores of the fabric.

After a solid thirty seconds of silence, you decided the coast was clear and, on your tippy toes, crept along silently, feeling like some kind of weird nudist ninja or something. As you rounded the bend at the end of the hall, your heart kicked like a donkey in your chest. Someone was standing in the living room. You froze, unsure of what to do. If you went back now, you might still have some time to put back on your filthy clothes from yesterday, even though just the thought of it had your skin crawling with a thousand tiny, invisible bugs.

Eventually, your mind was made up for you, though, when you heard one of the boys waking up in their room. The grunt of their bed was followed by the foreboding creak of their floorboards as they came closer to discovering you, almost naked in their hallway. You ran as silently as you could to the nearest available hiding spot, the adjacent linen closet, feeling like thirty different kinds of crazy as you hid there, behind the slatted door.

Everything went dark for a few moments and the only sound you could make out over the pounding of your pulse in your ear drums was the opening and shutting of a bedroom door. Someone must have turned on the hall light after that. Light slipped through the slots in the door, letting you make out the half-dressed figure of Taehyung, scratching his belly as he made his way down the hallway, and finally disappearing behind the bathroom door. You could faintly make out the clicking of the lock, separating you and your clothes with a sudden finality that made your body go numb with dread.

Now what!? You thought to yourself, your mind racing in panicky circles. I can't just stay in here. One of them is going to need a towel eventually and then they're going to think I'm a lunatic. Think, Y/N. Think!

As you squeezed your head like a ripe lemon, hoping to force a solution out of your mind like a particularly bothersome blackhead, you noticed a figure speed past you down the hall coming from the direction of the living room.

"Oh, thank Jisoos!" you whispered under your breath as you slipped out of the closet, silky as a snake shedding its skin.

You sped into the living room to collect your suitcase so fast, you felt your heels skidding out from under you like a car with bald tires on an icy road. After you collected yourself, you gently tip-toed your way over to where you left your suitcase the night before, only to find it nowhere in sight.
