Part-3 Rise And Shine

     "Wakey-wakey! Rise and shine sleepy head!" Sayori shakes MC awake.

     "Awww. Just a couple more hours?" He gets those getting-up-early flashbacks. MC pulls the blanket over his face in response, wanting to sleep in.
     Monika walks next to Natsuki and Yuri.

     "You two, get up. We need to get out of here."

     "Fiiinnnneee." Natsuki pulls herself out of her bag.

     Natsuki uses her foot to wake up Yuri.
     "Hey, lovely night, wouldn't you say?"

     "Indeed." Yuri and Natsuki blush after remembering last night.
    

     The group quickly begin packing up everything. They had camped out in the middle of nowhere many times, especially on missions.

     "Okay everyone! Back in the tank. We're heading out." Monika announced.

     The group is back on the road in no time. There is an annoying rattle coming from the tracks because Natsuki crashed the tank the night before. But everything is going relatively smoothly.

     "Team Literature, are you there?" Buzzed the radio.

     Monika clears her throat. "Yes, we are heading back to base."

     "Do not return to base! I repeat, do not return to base. Our defenses were overrun, and we had to retreat to our second line of defense. We need you to regroup with us."

     "Affirmative. But what kind of enemies can we expect?" Monika questions.

     "American and British tanks. We've been hit with Stuarts, Shermans, Matildas and Valentines. Do not engage the Shermans and Matildas."

     "Understood, we'll continue until we rendezvous with our allies."

     "Speaking of allies, we were forced to regroup with our Japanese forces."

     The German tanks had suffered staggering losses, so they have to combine forces with the friendly Japanese team. It was German and Japanese tanks vs US and British tanks.

     "Hey Monika, what's the plan?" Sayori asks, everyone listens in.

     "Oh? Well, we are going to reunite with our friends. But because we lost so many units we have to combine arms with our Japanese allies."

     "How many friends did we lose?" Yuri asks.

     Monika looks to their front, and sees a massive cloud of smoke.

     "Too many. Their defense crippled our advance."

     "Well that's depressing." MC says.

     "That's just what I was thinking." Natsuki grumbled.

     "Now everyone, we haven't lost yet. Just remember that we-"

"TANK!"
Natsuki screamed.

     "Where?!" Monika shouts.
     "Right in front! It's a Sherman!" Natsuki exclaimed.
     Monika assessed the situation. In front of them is Sherman driving by, less than 100 meters away.
     "Hold on, remember what they said. Just let them be." Monika remarked.
     "But what if they-"
     "I don't think they see us." Monika cuts off Yuri.
     "MC, load our APCR rounds just in case." MC begins loading a Armor Piercing Composite Rigid shot into the gun. This should be enough to take out a Sherman head on.
     "Monika! Look!" Sayori yells.

The enemy Sherman stops, and begins to turn its turret to the Panzer III.

     "Sayori, light 'em up!"

     Sayori carefully lays the crosshairs on the Sherman. She sees a white star on the left side of the tank, making a perfect target.

     She holds her breath as she aims the gun, and before she's knows it, she fires.

     A flash of smoke and light blow out of the muzzle of the gun. And a small light darts through the air. In less than a fraction of a second, the high density tungsten round collides with the Sherman's left side.

*KABOOM!*

     Instantly the Sherman explodes. The shot was perfectly aimed and thus, detonated the ammunition all at once.

     "Wow! Sayori nice shot!" Monika shouted.

     Sayori watches the M4's turret hit and roll across the scorched ground. Jagged pieces of armor landed all around the destroyed Sherman. She closes her eyes, and is grateful that her friends were not hurt.

     "...at least they died instantly..." Sayori whispers to herself.

     "Now that was pretty cool Sayori!" Natsuki gives Sayori an enthusiastic compliment.

     "I didn't know a tank explosion could be so loud. It's spectacular." Yuri rubs her ears.

     MC opens his loader hatch and checks out the damage. He sees the turretless M4 Sherman burn violently. After getting back in, he places his hand on Sayori's shoulder.

     "Hey, good job." His voice reassured Sayori.

     "Ok everyone! Let's continue on our way. Natsuki, make a left into this field, follow the smoke in the distance. In the meantime, I'll watch our back." Monika states.
