"To all members of the enemy team, we are offering you a way out. We guarantee a safe passage out of the match if you surrender. Any and all prisoners of war will be treated with respect and will not be killed at our POW camps."
"We have you surrounded, we outnumber you, and we hold the tactical high ground. It is not too late to surrender and finish this war. There is no need for more death and suffering."
"We offer a chance of survival, it is recommended you take it."Monika listened to the enemy radio broadcast. It's a scheme. A deal like that is too good to be true.
After hearing the news, everyone remains silent. MC lays back, Sayori gets some fresh air and Monika continues to listen. Everyone has the same subject on their minds.
MC whispers, "So, what do you think?" He spoke quietly to Sayori.
"It's tempting. Like holding yourself back from cookies straight outta the oven." She spoke quietly.
"Yeah, I'm interested."
"You two, don't even think about it." Monika said out loud.
Instead of a retort, MC stays silent.
"But Monika! We can trust them! The British were nice in WW2." Sayori spoke, somehow still cheery.
"There's good and bad on all sides, Sayori. It's likely that they'll just kill us even if we surrender. I've heard stories of it happening in the past."
"But," MC joins in, "It's still a possibility. Paying off war crimes isn't cheap, so maybe they're legit."
"I'm not willing to take that risk."
Then, Monika switches back to the driver seat.
"We're here to fight, not to give up. Right, MC?"
"...yeah..." He said.
A roar of mechanical power vibrates the metal interior. Segmented tracks jitter and jump as the sprockets drive them. Their Panzer 38t is functioning as intended.
At first their speed was sluggish, but after some momentum was gained it cruised at a comfortable pace. The roads allowed them to gain speed without the interior becoming a bouncy castle.
"We're taking the long way round. The other way is just too risky." Said Monika.
Anti tank guns and infantry protected the original route. Even land mines were deployed to keep the enemy's flank secure. So this journey would be long.
Hours had passed by, and the sun was already beginning it's descent. A warm and calming orange flowed across the sky.
"Can we stop? I'm feeling a little...sick." Sayori said, it was likely from all the motion.
"I'm in need of a stretch." MC yawned.
"Okay okay. I need to check the map, I think we went a little too far." Monika stopped the tank.
Sayori opens her hatch and lifts up her arms. They were very far away from the match. No cannon could reach this distance so that was a plus side.
"Ah it's so pretty out h- Eh?" Sayori spots something.
"Sayori? What is it?" Asked MC.
"Quick, pass me the binoculars!"
MC struggles to hand them to her.
Immediately she uses them to get a better look.
"TANK!"
"What?! Where?!" Monika panics, starting the tank in order to face the target.
