I burst through the front door of the school, and out into the courtyard. I saw Abby running down the sidewalk ahead of me.
"Wait!!" I shouted
I ran through the crowd of people, and as I was running after her Abby turn at a corner, which threw me off her trail for a while, but I chased after her.
"Abby, slow down!!!" I called
She went into a sprint, so I did also, I wouldn't really say I was the most active person ever, I mostly played games and avoided conflict when I could, but this was a horrible change of events. I looked behind me and saw Dom and his group of friends coming out the front door of the school, they pointed in my direction. I was surprised that they now just got out of the school.
"Shit" I whispered
Abby turned at another corner, and I was finally caught up with her, and to be honest. It didn't look like she'd be stopping anytime soon.
"Abby!!" I called
I looked behind me again and saw Dom was on my tail, so I picked up my speed. My chest and side were hurting and burning at the same time, but I couldn't stop. Abby turned onto another corner and when I turned on that same corner, she was gone.
"Abby?" I said
I looked around but there was no sight of her anywhere, I heard Dom and his friend's footsteps coming closer. I started to get scared.
"Abby!!" I shouted
I felt something pull my arm, and I stumbled into a side street. I went to let out a call for help, but a hand covered my mouth. I turned around and saw it was Abby, she lifted her finger to her lips, signaling me to be quiet. I nodded in agreement.
"Hey where did they go" said one of his friends
"I know they went this way" said the other
"Damnit!! They got away!!" cursed Dom
We saw Dom and his friends give up and both went separate ways, Abby and I waited for about 5 minutes before deciding to come out of hiding.
"I think they're gone" said Abby
"Yeah" I said, out of breath
"Thanks for doing that" thanked Abby
"Doing what?" I asked
"Punching Dom, I swear he never shuts up" Groaned Abby
"Oh, I didn't even realize I did till after I hit him" I said
"Ha, that's funny. Hey, we should lay low a little bit...you...can come to my house for ...if you want" said Abby
"Really?" I asked
"Yeah, You helped me. It's the least I can do" said Abby
"Oh, thanks I guess" I said
"Don't mention it?" said Abby
"Where is your place" I asked
"Oh it's not that far it's just up the road" replied Abby
"Okay, lead the way" I said
Abby smiled, she turned around and started walking in the direction towards her house. I looked up at the beautiful blue sky, wondering how this day went from decent, to bad.
"Hey!!! You coming" shouted Abby
"Uhhhhh...yeah right behind you" I said
I walked up beside Abby, and we both walked to her house. I hope we would never have this happen again.
