Time - Music From Inception
The waves crash into the shore, their sounds echoing off of Louis' ear drums as he stands on the beach, his toes buried in the wet sand.
He smiles a little while he's watching the sun slipping closer and closer to setting; he sees red and orange glowing throughout the sky and to him it almost feels like the sky is on fire in this moment.
He turns his head slowly, his blue eyes glancing off at the rolling waves, seeing them crash into the shore before rolling back out again. He awes at the strength of every wave... and how they continue to persist.
He sees a familiar face walking towards him out of the corner of his eye. He turns and grins at his husband in an instant.
Harry's dimples only deepen as he's wrapping Louis into his arms and sighing. "Thank you. Thank you so much for bringing me here. I really needed it."
Louis grins and holds Harry tighter as he's sniffing some, his mind overwhelmed with emotion. "Don't thank me. It's the reason I'm still here, Harry... I'll always be here to bring you back."
Harry's fingers grip a hold of Louis as he's sighing out and fighting back the tears that are forming in his eyes.
Harry never would've believed that he would fight cancer even once, but to have it relapse 3 times in a short 10 years was something Harry never saw happening. Yet, he still stands here, able to listen to the ocean waves rolling in beside him... able to hear the birds singing around him.
All because Louis donated his stem cells once again to help fight Harry's leukemia... and send him into remission once more.
"Perhaps the biggest reason I was put here," Louis starts as he's smirking a little and letting go of Harry, "on this earth... was so that I could allow you to continue to live your life... and grow old... with me."
Harry's dimples deepen as he tries to nod, tears spilling from his eyes finally. "Yeah... perhaps you were... but you're also an amazing doctor..."
"Yeah," Louis chuckles and looks at the waves again. "God, Harold... 10 years..."
"Feels like longer," Harry whispers as the wind is blowing his short curls away from his face. "Feels like lifetimes ago..."
"Perhaps it was," Louis shrugs and takes Harry's hand in his. "We aren't the same people..."
"No," Harry smiles a little, "we're stronger. We're better."
Louis nods while he's studying Harry. "And you're still as hot as always."
Harry snickers and runs his fingers through Louis' hair before he throws his arm around his waist and sighs, his eyes watching the skies and all the different colors.
"I sometimes... have to stop myself and think... how fortunate I really am... to experience every single day with you still... and to have had you for the past 10 years," Louis manages to say even though his voice breaks. "I mean, I could've lost you, Harold... I could've. What if I had never donated? I mean, you wouldn't be standing here..."
"Do you still think about that?" Harry's quickly asking with a small grin. "Lou, come on..."
"I do sometimes," Louis admits and glances at Harry, "Because... it just blows me fucking mind sometimes to think how... how fucking close you came to not being on this earth anymore... and yet, you're still so fucking strong now. I can't say that I admire you enough. I really do. You're inspirational."
Harry grins and pushes his hair back again, "no... I'm not. I was given the chance to live..."
Harry stops for a moment when he sees Olivia running through the waves giggling as Dominick and Jayden are chasing her.
