I told my mom everything I knew about Hyunjin's current state. Needless to say, her view on Jinnie definitely changed. But I wasn't about to leave his side, regardless of the begging from my mother.
"No," I said gruffly and crossed my arms in a pout while Hyunjin looked over at me, sighing softly.
"You'd better go, Seungmin...I doubt they'll let you stay the whole night anyhow," he tells me, but I shake my head.
"Not going home," I say and my mother finally throws up her hands and sighs heavily.
"Fine!" she says and then grabs her stuff, looking to Hyunjin. "I hope you get better, dear," she says sweetly to him, sending me a harsh look before walking out.
Once she's gone, instead of sitting in one of the chairs by the corner, I get up quickly and trot over to the hospital bed, sitting beside Hyunjin who hums softly when I plop beside him.
"You give your ma a hard time," he says gently and I shrug at his comment.
"I don't wanna leave you here by yourself," I speak the truth and he sighs, but nods.
"Try to be better to her. You don't know how bad it feels when your mom is.." he trails off, but I know what he means, he doesn't need to speak another word. I settle beside him on the hospital bed, cuddling into his side as the bed was not quite big enough for the two of us. Luckily, I made it work and Hyunjin wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me closer.
There was a comfortable silence and I sigh softly, my arm spread over his stomach and my head rested on his shoulder.
"So...what..what happened between you and Jeongin?" I hear myself asking and he glances down, then sighs.
"Well...I dated him a while back. Uhm, he..I don't know. Jeongin just kept being really clingy, which I don't mind too much, but it was like...mega clingy. And one night, we had this big fight. He uhm..he threw plates at me, like.. glass plates and broke all of them," he starts and my mouth drops open.
"What?!" I ask in disbelief and he just continues.
"I told him he was fucking crazy," he laughs nervously and then scratches the back of his head with the hand that wasn't gently grasping my waist. "He stormed out and then the next day, wanted to make up. I told him to get away from me, that we were done. I guess...I guess he just hates me for it now," he says and I blink slowly.
I guess I really didn't know Jeongin all that well if he was willing to throw plates at people. Then again, the whole Mountain Dew scenario today kinda showed that he was someone else when he was angry.
"I thought-" I began hesitantly, but I'm cut off.
"I know," he chuckles. "You probably thought I did something fucking horrible to him," Hyunjin says and I nod slowly and then wrap my arm more firmly around his stomach, sighing gently and resting my head back on his shoulder.
"I understand," he says gently to me and then sweetly kisses the top of my head, making a small smile appear on my pale, tear-stained face.
Slowly after that, I felt myself slip into the dark abyss called sleep. And all the while, Hyunjin was holding me closer and closer, as if I could just leave any moment and slip from his fingers. I obviously wasn't complaining though, it was a nice feeling to feel secure and safe.
He was an angel sent from Heaven and even through the wrongs he's endured, he's still alive and fighting. Amazing.
