It was about time to go home and I couldn't be more excited. I just wanted to spend as much time with Hyunjin as I could. So once our last classes were officially done, I sped to my locker so I could meet him at the front area of the school and we could walk home. But he managed to beat me and just met me at my locker.
"I wanna gooooo hoooomeee," he complains almost instantly and I realize that he's not talking about the shithole he used to be in anymore, he's talking about my house and I feel a fuzzy, warm feeling spread through my stomach and chest as I think about it. He now considers my house his new home and I'm glad that he thinks that. I'm glad that he's out of there and living with us instead. He didn't deserve all the things that happened to him at all because he's such a great person.
"Mhm, gimme a second, I have to get my homework...speaking of which, don't you have math homework you still need to do?" I ask, because in all honesty, I just want what's the best for him and if that means making him do his homework that he never does, I'll do it.
"Uhhhh....yeah...but I'm not gonna do it," he says and I sigh, close my locker, and turn to look at him, narrowing my eyes and giving him my best shot at a stern look.
"Go get your homework, Hyunjin. You're already failing almost all of your classes. Don't you want to graduate with me?" I ask and smile, and that gets him. It's easy to tell as his face goes from blank to a thoughtful expression. He then emits a sigh and defeatedly, walks back to his locker and I follow him.
"Do you have anything else you need to get or is it just that?" I ask and he then hesitates and grumbles.
"Dammit. You've caught me out...there's a shit ton of makeup work I have to do.. or I should do anyway," and I nod as he says this in understanding.
"Get that too, I'll try to help you finish some of it tonight, okay?" I ask and he simply grumbles again and nods, probably pissed that I found him out.
"Fine, Whatever," he grumbles and pouts as he gets his ripped, crumbling folders and binders out with the work he needs in them. He ends up bringing home two binders which is History and English homework and then three folders which is Math, Biology, and Health.
After about fifteen minutes of walking back to my house, lugging our stuff home, we eventually arrive and as I open the door, Hwang instantly greets us with adorable little yaps, his little tail wagging furiously. I put my book bag down quickly and Hyunjin puts his books down because apparently he doesn't own a thing called a backpack.
"Hi, baby!" I exclaim and pick up the tiny, adorable white dog and cuddle him, smiling brightly. "Ah, so cute!" I exclaim as he excitedly leans forward in my arms to sniff at Hyunjin.
"Hello, Hwang," he says cooly and pets the dog softly and I smile at him. Then, my dear mother comes from the kitchen and greets us, giving me a hug and kissing my forehead, and then turning to Hyunjin who bows. But my mother had other plans as she's basically adopted Hyunjin. She surprises him with a big hug and kisses his forehead.
"My precious boys," she pinches are cheeks lightly and smiles. "I'll have dinner ready at about 5:00, don't forget. Hyunjinnie-ah.. what's all this stuff here?" Then, she gasps. "Are you actually bringing your school items home?!"
"Yep! He is. I managed to get him to bring them home at least and I'm gonna help him get some of his stuff turned in and his grades up so he can pass," I explain and then put Hwang down who begins running around, playing with his little toys.
"Yeah...I don't want to..but I guess it's for the better." I can tell that Hyunjin is a little flustered because of my mother's greeting and I find it cute.
"Good, good! I'm very proud. Go on, go on! Good luck, Hyunjin," she smiles and then returns to the kitchen, cleaning the dishes.
Hyunjin and I head back to my room where both of us are currently staying. Instantly, I tell him to get out the math sheet we both got today and after about thirty minutes of explaining things in full detail, Hyunjin gets one right.
"Oh my god, you did it!" I hug him tightly and kiss his cheek. "Good job!" I exclaim because I truly am proud of him. It's kind of a breakthrough for him, especially since he never went anywhere near homework before.
"Shit, I did do it, didn't I?" Even he smiles proudly.
Hours pass. We eat dinner and continue on those make up sheets and eventually, he every single sheet done for math and half of them done for English which is a huge improvement.
"I'm exhausted," he says softly and sits back, yawning and I nod in understanding because helping him was harder than you'd think.
"You did good today, I'm really proud of you. What do you say we go to bed?" I ask and he nods. We both change, him in the bathroom and me in my bedroom and when he comes back, we both lie down on my bed and get under the covers. We're facing each other in the dark, looking at each other regardless of the lack of illumination.
"I love you, Seungmin."
"I love you too, Hyunjin."
Those are our last words before I fall asleep in his arms.
