"Are you ready?"

My head snaps towards Klaus. "Yeah." My voice cracks. Shit.

"Your hands are shaking." Klaus chuckles, motioning to our entwined fingers. "You don't need to be nervous. They're your family. He adopted you for a reason."

Nervous. I'm not nervous. Worried? Yes. "But that was before I ditched Lilian at a burning down hotel and went MIA for a year. He's not just gonna welcome me with open arms."

"He may be angry." Violet chips in. "But he'll get over it. That's what families do." I nod my head. She's right. He'll get over it. It may take some time, but we're family. He can't stay mad at me forever. Right?

Taking a deep breath, I knock thrice on the door. There's movement inside, and then the door is being swung open.

"Holy fuck!" There's no time to react before Lilian is swooping me into a hug.

"Lilian Carol Grendowyn!" A voice booms from inside the house. "You better watch your tongue!" Loud footsteps stomp closer and closer, until I can see the boots from over Lilian's shoulder. "Holy fuck!"

Breaking away from Lilian, I stand before Richard. His eyes are wide in shock, but they soon narrow into a harsh stare. "Ellis...where the hell have you been!" I drop my head in shame. "Do you have any idea how worried I was about you?" From the corner of my eyes, I watch as Richard turns to the Baudelaire siblings. "And you!" Oh no. "You little piece of shit! Next time you get tormented by some freako, keep my daughter out of it! Okay? She doesn't need that shit in her life." He spins back to me, and I prepare myself for more yelling. "Ellis." Richard sighs, and throws his arms around me. Surprised, I hesitantly do the same. "Fuck, Ellis. Don't you ever do that again. Okay? I don't need that shit in my life ever again."

Shoulders shaking due to sobbing, I hold onto him tighter. Lilian joins us, resting her head on mine. "I'm sorry." I say after we pull away. "I didn't mean to worry you. I wasn't exactly planning on being away for so long."

"So, it's over?"

Smiling at the Baudelaires, I beckon for them to join. "Yeah. It's finally over."

And it is. Olaf is dead. His troupe are all on to bigger things. No one else is trying to steal the Baudelaire fortune or kill me because my parents wronged them. Everything can return to normal. We may not know what that is, but we'll figure it out.
