"Morning sleepyhead." Colby says and hands me an iced coffee from DutchBros. I sit up in bed and yawn. I take a sip letting it refresh my dried organs. He turns on the lights as Sam walks out of the bathroom freshly showered. Colby hands me a XPLR white shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants, "here this'll be comfy on the plane." He says and smiles. I take them with a smile and go to the bathroom to change. I brush out my hair and change clothes and brush my teeth with the hotel toothbrush. I tie my hair up into a messy bun as well. I walk out and hand Colby the sweatshirt, he holds out his hands in protest, "no no keep it!" He smiles. I nod and sit down enjoying my coffee.
"Alright kids lets go downstairs and get ready to go to the airport!" Sam says as we pile out the door grabbing our backpacks.
We go down to the parking lot and see the rest of the boys waiting at the car.
"About damn time." Corey laughs. Sam rolls his eyes and pops the trunk and we pile our stuff in. Colby takes the drivers seat and the keys as Elton jumps in the front. Corey Sam Jake and I sit in the back and I sit to the far right next to Sam who's in the middle. I check my phone seeing multiple messages from my bestfriend Connor.
Connor (24 messages) : call me ASAP.
I dial his number and call him,
"Alaska?" He says yawning.
"Connor, it's so nice to hear your voice." I say. Sam looks at me confused but interested.
"Fuck you didn't answer your phone i was worried sick about you asshole." He sighs.
"It's okay, I, I met these people, they're taking care of me." I say as Sam smiles at me.
"Random fucking people? Alaska, are you safe where are you going?"
"LA."
"LA? Alaska I'm worried about you. I still feel awful I couldn't get discharged." He says.
"It's okay, I know it's impossible for you to be here. Your literally 6,000 miles away." I sigh, Connor is apart of the air force and he's permanently stationed in Japan for the next 5 years.
"Still. Okay I have to go, please keep me up to date. Love you."
"Love you too." I say and hang up.
"Boyfriend?" Jake asks me.
"No, god no, my bestfriend he's stationed in Japan for the next 5 years or more." I explain vaguely. Everyone nods.
We get to the airport and surprising get through TSA quickly and board our plane within minutes. I sit by the window while Sam sits next to me and Colby sits in the isle seat. Our plane take off and I get nervous, Ihate planes. "You okay?" Sam asks me. I grab his hand and close my eyes as we reach full altitude. The seatbelt sign goes off and flight attendants asks us if we want drinks, we decline and they move on. I notice I'm still holding Sams hand and I remove it quickly. I blush slightly.
Sam awkwardly rubs his upper arm, "so uh anyways, I have an extra bed in my room ironically enough, cause Colby used to stay in there while our friend Reed stayed for a while, and if it's okay with you, you can stay with me." He asks.
"Yeah, sounds good sam." I smile at him. I just couldn't believe how beautiful his eyes are.
Slowly my eyes begin to droop and I fall asleep.
I wake up to Sam lightly tapping my thigh. I raise my head as I realize I wad practically sleeping on top of Sam, "I'm sorry." I say full of embarrassment.
"No, honey your fine." Sam laughs as I notice we're the last to get off the plane. We grab our stuff and head off and see everyone waiting on us.
"Y'all fuckin on the plane or something?" Jake chuckles.
Sam rolls his eyes, "shut the hell up."
Laughter echoed through the rest of the group as we make it outside and into an Uber. We take 2 separate ones and once again I'm with Sam and Colby.
"I'm excited for you to see our house, sorry if it's kind of a mess." Colby's says as we reach the driveway of their house. We pile out and into the house. It's huge and nice. Everyone goes to their own rooms leaving Sam and I in the living room.
"So yeah this is our house." He smiles at me.
"It's very nice honestly." I smile back at him.
"If you want we can watch a movie in here or something? I don't really think anyone up for a day out right now, I think everyone wants to just chill out ya know?" He says. He drawls the curtains and turns off the lights leaving it very dim and relaxing and sits down on the plush sofa. He pats next to him so I sit there. He pulls a blanket over us as we sit together.
Strangely I felt very relaxed and comfortable around him. "So whatcha wanna watch?" He asks.
"Uh I don't care honestly." I yawn and lean into him a bit. He smiles, "how about venom? I heard it's good." He says and presses rent.
I nod in approval as the movie starts.
Slowly I sam and I shift to where he's laid down on the couch and I'm laying practically on top of his with the head resting on his chest and my body laid out on his between his legs. He rests one arm on my back slowly rubbing circles.
I felt so safe and happy, which is the first time in a long time that I've felt that way. I slowly fall asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
