Loki woke up in the middle of the night with his arms wrapped around his daughter's. The moonlight shined off of her body. He smiled as he thought of how beautifully she was growing up.

She stirred against him and rolled over. Loki could barely see in the dim light but he could tell that something was wrong. Her skin in the other half of her face was rotted and her hair was either matted against her skin or had fallen out. The whole other half of her body was a rotted corpse. It must have been a curse or something. She stirred again and opened her eyes slightly.

"Dad?" she murmured sleepily.

"I'm right here." he told her, she nodded and closed her eyes again. No sooner had she closed them then she snapped her eyes open again.

"Can you... Could you see my? she gestured to the hidden half of her body. Loki nodded and she sighed. "Do you... I mean... Do you think I'm a monster? I mean... do you hate me now?" she stuttered.

Loki blinked and his face fell at the sight of her heartbroken expression. He cupped her chin in his hands and forced her to look at him. Her eyes were full of fear and doubt.

"Hela. You are my daughter, I have loved you and always will love you since the day you were born up to now and I will not ever stop loving you just because of this. You are still beautiful to me and I never want you to even think for a second that I hate you because I don't." he told her solemnly. She nodded as a tear trailed down her face. Loki quickly wiped it away with his thumb and pulled her close to him.

"What about..." she trailed off as Loki covered her mouth with his hand and hugged her tighter.

After a few minutes of hugging she pounded on his chest and he slackened his grip just enough to hear that she was trying to talk to him.

"Can't breath. Too tight. You can let go now Dad." she mumbled into his shirt. He let go and stared at her. When he first noticed her appearance he was shocked, but looking at her now, she was the most beautiful thing in the world. In all worlds for that matter.

She noticed him staring at her and her fingers flew to her face. "What?" she asked him. her eyes were full of uncertainty.

He shook his head, "Nothing, I was just thinking about how beautiful you are." he whispered. She blushed and swatted his arm.

"Go to sleep Dad." she ordered, a smile playing on the corner of her lips. He nodded seriously and laid back down. Hela nuzzled her head into his chest and they both fell asleep soon after.

Hela woke up early in the morning. Loki was still holding her securely. She tried to tell herself that she didn't want him to be her Dad. She would have anyone but him, but then she remembered playing Hide and Seek with him and her siblings. She remembered him telling her that she was beautiful even with her corpse half showing.

She remembered him holding her securely through the night, and she remembered how he whispered how much he loved her until she fell asleep. All of these memories came flooding into her mind and she could hardly believe that it had been a day. As she looked up at her father's face she realized that she wouldn't trade him for anyone in the world. In any world.

As if he could tell what she was thinking he smiled in his sleep. She pulled herself out of his arms to get changed for the day. When she was finished getting herself dressed in the tight, green silk dress he was still asleep.

Hela decided against waking him up and just wrote a note saying she'd be exploring. The left the room without a sound. No sooner had she turned a corner did she bump into Odin. He regarded her with a stern eye before leading her back to her room.

"You should stay here until Sif comes to get you..." he trailed off when his eye came to rest on Loki's sleeping form. "I told him to stay away from you." he growled.

Hela backed away. She was confused, why would he want her to stay away from her? Odin turned back to her and regarded her silently.

"Thor is to leave for Midgard soon. The mortals have been threatened with another strange force. You are to accompany him." he told her. Without another word he took her to Thor's room and explained to him that he'd be taking Hela with him.
