Hela walked down the streets. She swore that she would find her father, then she said that she'd kill Loki. Now she was hopelessly confused.
A black cat hissed at her as she passed. Hela had kept a lot of secrets as she grew up. Her magic yes, but also another secret. Every night she became a monster. The right side of her body remained healthy, alive, and unscathed. The left side of it however, was like a rotting corpse. Her skin hung dead off her bones, her hair was matted to what was left of her skin.
She never let anyone see her at night. She always locked the door at night. As the moonlight shone on her, her true form showed. A little girl saw her from the porch and screamed.
Hela could hear the sound of hooves on the road, she hid in the shadows as a soldier passed by. He stopped at the house that she was hiding behind and knocked on the door.
"Do you know the whereabouts of Hela, daughter of Loki is?" he asked.
"No sir I do not, and if I did, I can assure you, I would have turned her in." the owner of the house said.
"And why's that?"
"She is a Loki child, isn't that enough? Goodnight sir." and with that the door was closed.
As Hela sat in the shadows, she wondered why soldiers were looking for her. Perhaps it was because they thought that she killed the old couple on purpose. Or that she was a "witch".
She moved on, hiding behind trash cans and shadows. More soldiers passed by looking for her. She dug around in one trash can for food and she found an apple. Uneaten and not rotten.
She fell into a fitful sleep behind a trash can. She had nightmares about her blowing up the house, learning of Loki, and even something of a woman running in a street, holding a bundle of blankets.
A shrill scream and a bucket of water in the face woke her up early in the morning. She opened her eyes and rubbed them before looking up at the source of the noise. She saw a girl, not much older than herself standing above her, a look of horror on her face.
Hela looked down at her body, both sides were human again, so why did she scream. She looked up at the girl questioningly.
"Why are you by my house. You will bring bad luck to us all, we have already told the guard that you aren't here!" the girl screamed. Hela rolled her eyes.
"Well excuse me for falling asleep!" Hela told the girl grumpily.
"Get away from here!" the girl cried before dumping the rest of the water on Hela's head.
"Stupid girl, can't wake people up nicely can she? What was the bucket for anyway?" Hela muttered darkly as she stalked away from the house.
She avoided the street that she used to live on as she walked to a restaurant nearby. She was kicked out shortly after arriving for not having any money for it. She probably should have thought of that before.
It had only just occurred to her that she had always been well fed when she stayed with Drella and Angus. Going with barely any food was not very fun.
Hela sat and tried to plan her next move. "There she is!" a voice behind her cried. She turned around. A castle guard walked up to her.
"You're coming with me." he said, faking a smile.
Hela faked a smile at him. "Um... No, I don't think that I shall be going with you sir." she told him.
The man's face hardened, "Odin's orders girl, if you do not cooperate then I will drag you there with me."
"Oooh! Odin's orders eh? Well, news flash, I. AM. NOT. GOING. ANYWHERE. And you can't make me." Hela stuck out her tongue. She got up to run but the guard grabbed her. "Let go of me!" she shrieked, "Let go! Assassin! Fake! Help me!"
