I heard beeping. Distant beeping.

It gradually grew louder and I opened my eyes slowly. I looked down at my body that was covered by a thin gown. There were IV's in my arms that were connected to bags of clear liquid.

The door opened and a nurse walked in. "Finally," she smiled. "You're awake."

"What happened?"

"You were in a very bad car accident Ms. Jacobs. You're very lucky to be alive."

"Is anyone else hurt?"

"The drunk driver who hit you, did not survive."

I nodded and looked away.

"You have a visitor. Are you up to see him?"

"I don't have any family members left so I don't know who else would be here to see me."

"I'll send him in."

She walked out and the door shut behind her. A few minutes later, it reopened and Lucas came through.

"Lucas?"

"I'm glad you remembered my name," he chuckled. A sad smile on his face.

"Well it's hard to forget a man who looks like you do."

Why in the hell did you say that? My eyebrows scrunched as I looked over at the liquid that was connected to my arm.

He chuckled and sat on the side of my bed. "How you feeling?"

"Hungry," I smiled. "Oh, no."

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"My chicken tortellini," I muttered, placing the back of my hand on my forehead in despair.

He laughed and grabbed my hand. "Dramatic. I'll make it for you one day."

I tried to smile but the fire that spread upon him touching me was mesmerizing. He quickly released my hand and stood. "Well, I should get going. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I heard the crash while walking down the sidewalk and realized it was you when the ambulance got there. Get some rest, okay? I'm glad you're alright."

I smiled gently up at him and thanked him for coming.

He walked out and I closed my eyes and leaned back on the pillow.

Images began flashing in my mind. Memories, maybe. I was upside down in the car and hands reached out for me. They were a bright white and glowing. Suddenly they were ripped away and dark black ones grabbed me and pulled me out of the car.

I looked up at his face as he cradled me to my chest. He was familiar but I couldn't place him. I looked over at the bright, glowing man.

"It's her time," he said.

"No it's not. She doesn't deserve to die. That bastard-" he pointed to the other car. "- deserves to die." He set me on my feet and walked to the car. I watched as he grabbed the man by his collar, he muttered a few words and then pulled out a black tinted almost cloud-like substance.

"He belongs to me," the dark man said.

"I know."

"What is going on?" I whispered.

The glowing mans head snapped toward me as did the dark mans.

"You can see us?" The glowing man asked.

"Yes? What is that?" I asked, pointing at the cloud.

Neither of them spoke. They looked at each other and the glowing man nodded at the dark man.

"Investigate," the glowing man said. He disappeared and the dark man walked to me. He held my face in his hands.

"Lucas," I whispered, finally recognizing him.

"You will forget this. You will not remember this encounter when you wake up." He snapped his fingers and everything went black.

I sat up quickly in my hospital bed.

"Oh my God," I whispered. "There's no way. He's not real. The Devil isn't real."

Wincing, I began pulling the needles out of my arm and the machine began beeping. The nurse walked in and panicked.

"Ma'am, you can't take those out!"

"I'm going home," I said. I stood, wobbled a bit and began grabbing my belongings.

"You can't leave, Ms. Jacobs."

She stood blocking the door. "We were told to not let you leave. We have to keep you here, no matter what."

"By who?" I whispered.

"Your friend."

I stumbled backward. My breathing picked up and I began to panic. My mind raced to find a way out. Looking at the window, I rushed to it only to find we were at least 12 floors up.

"I have to get out of here," I muttered.

The door suddenly opened and Lucas walked in. "Get out," he said firmly to the nurse.

I looked at him, fear filling my entire being. "Get away from me."

He stopped dead in his tracks. "You remember," he whispered, confused.

"Who are you?"

He didn't answer as he walked closer to me.

"Stay away from me!" I screamed.

"What do you remember?" He asked quietly.

"Everything! What did you do to that man?"

"That man is being punished for what he did to you."

"What was the black thing?"

He looked away from me. My body shook in fear. I knew, deep down, what it was. "Answer me!" I yelled.

"It was his soul, Allyson."

"What?" I stumbled back again.

"His soul. It belongs to me now and his is being punished for killing you."

"But I'm alive!"

"You weren't!" He yelled back. I trembled. "You were dead. I brought you back because it wasn't your time to die."

"Who are you?" My voice cracked in fear.

"You know who I am," he whispered.
