"Wake up, love."
My eyes fluttered open, meeting his dark blue gaze. "Where are we?"
"A little cafe. I need to get you fed."
I stretched, letting out a yawn. "Okay."
We walked inside together. "Go find a seat. I'll order for us," I said.
He nodded and walked away.
"Two black coffee's and two blueberry muffins, please." I smiled at the cashier boy behind the register.
"Yes ma'am. Anything else?"
"That's it."
"$11.52."
I handed him a $20 bill and waited for my change.
"We'll get your order to any second.""Thank you," I smiled.
I walked to Lucas sitting in the corner booth next to the window. "So tell me more about you."
"What do you want to know?"
"Everything," I said confidently. He stared at me for a second. "What?" I whispered.
"You want everything to be real," he stated. "Everything you've read in books and seen in movies. I'm here to tell you that it is. Everything supernatural you've ever wondered about, it's real. However, they don't all have happy endings. The supernatural world is not a happy world. There are struggles like you've never seen."
I gulped, head spinning."You mean vampires and werewolves and witches? Those things are real?"
Suddenly, a girl appeared with our muffins and coffee. She looked at me strangely, probably hearing my question.
"Yes, love. Do you want to see it?"
I looked around the cafe slowly. "I don't know."
"Oh, come on. You've always wanted those things to be real. You've wished for them. Let me show you."
I studied the crowd around us. "Are there some here? Now?"
He smiled. Slowly, his hands reached out and grabbed my own. My vision became hazy before clearing back up. I looked around and could see it. There was a type of aura around them. I gasped. Eyes turned toward me and Lucas slowly released my hands.
"Did you see it?"
"Yes," I breathed out.
"What did you see?"
"Them. I don't know how I knew but I did. It was like there was an aura surrounding them."
"It's their hidden aura. I am the only one who can see it. I am the only one who can know just by looking at them. The rest of the world, including other supernaturals cannot see."
"What about wolves? Can't they smell each other?"
"Yes, they can. They can smell the scent of their packs as well as the others but they would not know if they walked past a vampire. It doesn't work that way. They only know if a vampire shows his true self and vice versa."
"Can vampires see other vampires?"
"They have to get close enough. Daylight rings have a certain stone. A stone only a witch has access to."
"What about witches?"
"Witches are harder to spot. Not for me of course but if a vampire or wolf needs a witch, they have to seek them out."
"Seek them out?"
"Witches are about half and half. Half stay hidden, only being found when they want to be found and the other half are very open. The open type of witches may be allies with a wolf pack or a vampire. Most open their own shops where they sell herbs and tell fortunes and things. You find a lot of those in New Orleans."
