"Allyson," he whispered. "You are different and I need to know what you are."
I barely registered anything he was saying. I was terrified of him. I was trapped in a room with Lucifer.
"I need out of here," I whispered.
"Okay," he said, gently. He walked out quickly and came back with clothes in his hand. He stood there as I grabbed them from him.
"Get out," I said.
"I can't. You may try to escape."
"Am I your prisoner now?"
"No. I need answers, though. I'm sure you remember the other man saying to investigate you."
"But, aren't you the Devil? You don't answer to anyone?"
"Well, let''s just say he and I have mutual curiosity."
I groaned. "Fine. Will you at least turn around while I change?"
He turned around and I began pulling off the hospital gown. I hissed in pain as it grazed my bruises and cuts.
Lucas began turning around."No!" I yelled.
"Allyson, you need help."
"Let me get a bra on first! And panties!"
He nodded and his back remained facing me. I grabbed some panties and slipped them on before grabbing a bra. I pulled the bra over my chest and tried reaching back to clip it. I cried out in pain.
He turned around quickly and walked to me. He gulped, taking in my body.
"Do I the Devil make nervous?" I chuckled. Whatever was in that bag completely destroyed my filter, I thought, looking back at my arm where the needle was minutes ago.
He shook his head and walked behind me. "No woman has ever made me nervous. I've never been impressed by a woman's body."
I looked down. "Thanks," I muttered, my confidence low. Why the fuck do I care? This is the Devil we're talking about here.
"Except you," he whispered in my ear.
He clasped my bra and came back in front of me. He grabbed the button down shirt and pulled it over my arms. He began working on the buttons. I held my breath the entire time his fingers worked their way up my stomach. When his fingers reached my breasts, he stopped. I began breathing hard, his eyes following the movements. He shook his head and buttoned the rest of the buttons, making sure to not touch me.
When he turned around to grab the sweatpants, I nearly slapped myself. He's the Devil, you idiot. He took someone's soul. Stop listing over him.
When he turned back around, his face looked somber. He squatted down and stretched the elastic. I placed my feet through and he pulled them up. I blushed when I realized his head was directly in front of my most sensitive area. He stood and grabbed my belongings. "Let's go," he whispered.
I followed him out of the room and to the elevator. Inside, he pressed the button for the bottom floor.
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
He looked at me.
"For being so judgmental. You did save my life after all."
He suddenly pressed the stop button and the elevator jolted.
"I need to know what you are," he said, walking toward me.
"What are you doing?"
He looked straight into my eyes and I began getting dizzy. His eyes turned so dark they almost were black "Take your barrier down Allyson."
"What are you talking about?"
He huffed and pushed a button. The elevator began moving again.
"I can't get into your head. You were fighting me off. That isn't possible," he muttered more to himself than to me.
"I still have no idea what you are talking about."
"Normally, I can get into any human's head that I want. All I have to do is look into their soul. The only way to do that is through your eyes."
"So you can't get into my head? I had a barrier up?"
"Yes, strong willed people have barriers that I have to break through to get into their minds."
"So just break through mine?"
"I can't. That's the problem. You aren't human. There's no possible way. I can break even the strongest barrier on a human but I can't break yours. Yours is almost as strong as-" he stopped abruptly.
"As strong as whose?"
Lucas shook his head as the elevator doors opened and walked out.
"Lucas!" Heads turned toward me. "You are going to answer me. Now!" Some people gasped at my harsh tone with the large man. It was almost as if they knew who he is, how dangerous he is. I almost laughed at the thought. Not a single one of them knew who he truly is. The Devil in disguise.
He stopped and turned on his heel quickly. When he grabbed my hand, he pulled me harshly toward him. Leaning down to my ear, he whispered, "Don't you talk to me that way. You know who I am, what I am. You should be afraid of me."
I stepped up, challenging him. "But, I'm not."
He pulled back, his hand gripping my wrist tightly. His eyes turned red and then black. The grip on my arm tightened painfully. I winced and his eyes quickly returned to normal. Looking down at his hand wrapped around my wrist, he stepped back quickly. He released my wrist and stormed away. I followed him, not knowing what else to do. We made it to a black sleek Audi and he opened the passenger side door. Before I stepped in, he grabbed my other wrist softly.
"Don't challenge me again. I can't promise that I'll be able to come back from it next time," he said. His eyes turned dark for a split second before turning normal again. "Please," he added, softly.
I nodded and sat in the seat. He quickly made his way around the front of the car and soon enough, we were pulling out on the road.
I rubbed my wrist softly. There would definitely be a bruise. He reached over and grabbed my wrist and I flinched.
"Relax. I'm not going to hurt you."
I nodded. Suddenly, a warm feeling ran through my bones and settled on my wrist. The red skin turned pink and then back to my normal skin tone.
"Whoa," I whispered.
"I have the ability to heal as well as harm. I can choose who I want to heal and who I want to harm."
I nodded. Soon enough, sleep began to take over. I heard Lucas whisper something right as I was falling asleep but I was too out of it to understand. Darkness took over not long afterwards.
