With heavy eyelids, Taro's eyes struggled to stay open, as he turned his head to look over at the white haired stranger sharing the cell with him. Beyond him, Taro saw a familiar boy with glasses across the way in another cell, sitting on the floor.
"Hey, you-" Taro coughed, Gin being caught by surprise by his sudden noise.
"Kid, I told you to lay there and breathe!" Gintoki urged, but Taro slowly sat up.
"You said my mom would be here, and my Dad!" Taro was struggling to breathe freely.
Gin quickly went over to his side and gently forced him to lie on his back.
"Where's mom, and my dad- the powerful samurai! They were here to save me!" Taro wheezed, his eyes firmly closed.
It hurt Gin to see his flesh and blood pained in such a way, and not only was he worried about his health, but he was also worried about who could be watching the cell, just waiting for Taro to wake up.
Taro ended up settling down, being too exhausted to throw anymore of a fit.
"Gin-san," Shinpachi waved him over.
Gin had a glowing look on his face "He said I was a powerful Samurai, Shinpachi!"
"Yeah, apparently he knew of you. I think Y/N must've probably have told him about you or something," Shinpachi smiled.
Gin felt his heart heat up in his chest, and the butterflies in his stomach went aflutter.
Suddenly, breaking the tender moment, a sharp buzz sound rang out through the halls, a sound quite familiar to Gin's ears. Instantly after, with an unlatching click, all the cell doors slid into their open positions.
The two men were frozen, their eyes widen as they began to lock eyes and laugh because of the sheer convenience.
"I bet it's Kagura-chan!" Shinpachi stood up, hastily getting out of his cell.
Gin smirked as he went and scooped up Taro in his arms "I hope so, but lets not stick around to find out for sure!"
The two men and a tired boy managed their way to the staircase door, only to find it to be locked.
"Dammit!" Gin growled "They must have taken better precautions this time around".
Just then, they heard a subtle ding behind them. When they turned around, they saw the elevator doors slowly slide open, and two surprised looking guards were standing inside.
The two men quickly piled out into the hall, and got into fighting positions, katanas in hand.
"Gin-san, we're unarmed!" Shinpachi panicked.
Without a word in response, Gin gently set Taro down so his back was leaning against the wall beside the locked door behind them. Gin then slowly approached them with a intimidating stride, eyes staring sharply into each of theirs.
"Come at me, you bitches," Gin egged them on, firmly standing his ground.
The two guards lunged at him, swords at the ready to swing.
Shinpachi stood in front of Taro, unsure what to do himself.
Gin had the blades cut just inches away from his pale skin, as he maneuvered around them, flowing like water. With a strong kick of the right foot Gin hit the katana out of one of their hands, as he still dodged the others attacks as if the world were moving in slow-motion. Before the unarmed guard realized the gravity of his situation, Gin had already dove for the sword, now barring it at both the men with a devilish smirk on his face.
Both panicked, the one still with a sword shook off his nervousness, and charged at Gin, ready to kill him on spot. Gin brought up the blade, and the katanas collided with a clang, sparks flying on impact. With every attack the guard threw his way, Gin would block, up until Gin found his own opening. Because of the guards hesitation, Gin was able to cleanly slice off the man's right arm from the elbow down with one, clean swoop.
The guard watched as his sword fell to the floor, his severed arm following suit. With slight hesitation when realizing what had just happened, the man screamed out in agony as he fell to his knees, clutching his bloodied stump. The other guard behind him had his face turn whiter than a ghost, as he took cautious steps backward, all before running back to the elevator in retreat.
With that, Gin let him go, and sheathed his new blade, while still standing over the guard who was rapidly losing blood. Gin looked down at him in disgust, as he bent down and reached for the ring of keys attached to his belt loop.
With a stern look in his eyes, Gintoki walked over to the locked door, fidgeting with the keys, experimenting which one was for these stairs or not.
Shinpachi looked up at Gin in an unfathomable awe, and Taro did the same.
Finally, the door was unlocked, and the three of them were on their way to finding Kagura, and rescuing you.
