It was dark in the narrow passage, especially for Kagura, who had Taro clung to her back like a scared monkey. Shinpachi was just above them, and made sure the busted trap door Kagura left was put back as best as it could. If someone were to notice Taro was gone, he wanted to be sure that the last thing they suspected was the supposed locked trapped door. They'd notice eventually, but at least this would by them a little bit of time.
As they slowly descended, Kagura suddenly stopped, allowing Shinpachi to accidentally step on her head.
"Kagura! Taro! I'm sorry!" Shinpachi fretted, confused on who he might have hurt in the dark "are you okay-"
"Shush, Glasses, I hear something!" Kagura urged.
"Glasses...?" Shinpachi trailed before quieting down and perking up his ears.
Surly enough, the three of them could hear clunky footsteps below, along with things being shuffled around.
"What do we do?" Taro worried.
They then heard a mans irritated voice through the shaft, and it slowly grew clearer the closer he got to the opening below.
"Goddamn it," the man in the storage closet below fumed.
"Lets go back up!" Shinpachi thought quickly.
"No, it's only one of them!" suddenly, Kagura let go of the ladder "Hang on, Tofu!"
Those were her final words of warning to Taro before she let herself drop, all while Taro clung to her back and cried out in fear.
Meanwhile, the guard that had just noticed the break in, had climbed the shelving and looked up the ladder just as Kaguras foot was about to exit the dark space.
With the sheer force of the Yato clan, along with gravity, Kagura successfully broke the bad man's nose with just the ball of her foot.
The now wounded guard fell backwards off the storage shelf and into the pile Kagura and Shinpachi had left during their search, causing all their organized stuff to scatter everywhere, and leaving the now knocked out man laying in the middle of it, flat on his back.
Swiftly, Kagura and Taro made it down safely from the shelf, then followed by Shinpachi, who was left in disbelief at the scene.
Suddenly, the closet door swung open, and another guard showed his face through the crack.
"What was that noise?" he asked, eyebrow cocked, and then his eyes laid on the three kids who stood over his unconscious colleague.
His eyebrows then shifted downward with rage "What the hell is this?"
"We gotta go!" Shinpachi ordered, as he nudged Kagura to get moving.
With no hesitation, Kagura ran to the door and shoulder checked their witness, throwing him all the way across the hall, and a bunch of other guards noticed, but Kagura and Shinpachi were too fast compared to all of their reaction times. But, when they noticed Taro on Kagura's back, they instantly new that this was no ordinary break in at the Laughing Ladies Lounge.
