Your sore feet nearly drag the floor. The exhaustion from running and sneaking around was getting to you. Gintoki noticed your sluggishness, but didn't know entirely what to do. He got the idea of carrying you until you recovered, but would that be out of bounds? He shook his head, clearing the idea from his head entirely.

Since you had knocked out that oddly familiar looking man, other guards on the floor had been alerted of your presence. You needed to find your next destination, and fast. The two of you turned sharply down a corridor that differed from the others. It was very shallow, and at the end their was an old looking elevator door.

"Isn't this a new building?" Gin questioned "Why is such a vintage elevator in here?"

"I'm not sure," a hypothetical light bulb appeared above your head "but it's the best escape we have right now, I'd say".

You approached the elevator with determination and Gin nervously followed suit. You pressed the single, red button that was beside the door, and it gave off an awful buzzing sound. You both went on alert, hoping the noise didn't attract any unwanted attention. Gradually, you heard clunking approach from the shaft below. Through the door's grates, you saw the lift approach and lock into place on your floor. It buzzed once more, as the door slowly scraped open.

Before the doors could fully open up, you sidestep into the elevator, eagerness in your movements. Gin looked at you uneasily.

"Y/N, I don't know if I trust this thing," he spoke to you sternly "I feel like the mechanisms controlling it are going to grind into dust soon".

"I'm going, with or without you," eyes resting, you reached for the single, unmarked button inside the elevator and the doors slowly began to close.

Hesitantly, Gin hops in in the nick of time, hoping to not regret his rash decision. As the doors closed, you heard a loud click from above, and the elevator swiftly dropped down the shaft at full speed.

The two of you scream in terror as you grip onto the inside rails for dear life, as if it was your only hope to stay alive.

"What did I say?!" Gin wailed, knuckles turning white from his grip.

"Shut up!" you cried out back in annoyed horror.

The light in the elevator also began flashing before it ultimately went out. In the darkness, you suddenly felt Gin envelope you in his arms, the silky texture of his yukata enveloping around you. You then felt him pull you face first into his chest, as he fell flat on his back, keeping you off the ground. He then clutched the back of your head with one hand, while the other was placed on your upper back, holding you firmly against him.

The shock of him pulling you to his warm body silenced your screams. You still felt your stomach drop within you, but the feeling of Gin under you was such a calming feeling. You felt his steadiness as you clutched onto his disguise, pulling yourself even closer to him. You couldn't help but shed tears, knowing that it could possibly be the end for you both, and your son would forever be without you.

Shortly, you found yourself drifting into a euphoric state due to the fear and comfort. You felt the drop of your bodies slow, and you assumed the worst. You and Gin, laying onto of one another, on the floor of a crashed elevator, dead. But no, when you opened your eyes you saw no white light. It was still dark, but you had ceased falling— as a great speed, that is. Gradually, the elevator slowed until it drifted down to a stop, clicking in place. You could hear the doors scrape open, and the lights to the floor you arrived to flashed on, causing your confused eyes to squint.

The lights in the elevator sparked on as well, and everything went quiet. All you could hear was Gin and you panting with fright as you both glanced around.

You glanced down at Gin laying right below you, and the two of you locked eyes. Gin's face suddenly became flush as he awkwardly looked away and leaned upward, adjusting you to his side on the floor.

"Y-you were trying to save me," you blinked at him in awe.

Gin rubbed his neck "Well, yeah, I guess," he got up, letting out a big sigh "what else was I supposed to do, let you get crushed? I'm no monster!"

You saw Gin's cheeks flaring red, and couldn't help but smile "Thank you".

Gin felt a knot twist in his stomach "I-It's no problem, you did hire Odd Jobs, after all".

Crushed, you couldn't help but looked to the floor, feeling your heart break.

Gin suddenly realized what he had just said to you, but before he could repair what he had broken, a sharp pain he felt in the side of his neck rendered him speechless.

You heard a loud thunk, causing you to look up as see Gintoki's limp body sprawled out on the floor— top half out of the elevator— and a feathery blow dart was sticking out of his neck.

"Gin!" you start to panic, and then you looked up, eyeing the perpetrator.

Out of the elevator was a dimly lit corridor lined with cells. And at the end, a big, menacing shadow loomed just out of your vision, and a deep chuckles echoed down the hall.
